Which computer DVDrom is the best for ripping?
LaCie will probably do you well, although I haven't tried it. They are a bit pricey. For internal DVD burners currently in production, the only ones that are worth a spit are the "industrial" DVD burners from Teac. There simply are no ROM drives t...

How about BD-Audio on a Mac?
Recording DVD-Audio?
Steinberg's Wavelab series of software has some very affordable offerings that will author DVD-Audio.

Something I've discovered about Shoutcast streams - the bookmarks that you create from Shoutcast's listen links on Shoutcast's site or Winamp's "Shoutcast Radio" tab do not last last. If you want to create bookmarks in Winamp that are durable you ...
Apple vs PC for Music System
Gordon Wavelength, your experience is irrelevant. Unless you have used the correct hardware and softare on a PC then you have no idea what you are talking about.
Apple vs PC for Music System
The Prelude will not beat outboard DACs and the like. It's the best for HTPC.
Apple vs PC for Music System
I forgot about software - You can by a resampling plugin for Winamp, Audioburst FX. It makes a huge difference. The Dolby headphone modes on PowerDVD sound far better than on any other implementation of Dolby Headphone I've tried (including Winamp)...
Apple vs PC for Music System
A PC is the far superior choice for audio for the simple reason that you can order an Auzentech Prelude with a pair of OPA 637SM installed on the front L/R channels for $470 including shipping. There's nothing on an Apple to compete with that. (Yo...

Computer Speakers Under $200?
The Swans were ~$300 IIRC and they have been out of production for years.

All the 24seven stations, including Adagio and StreamingSoundtracks.com, use HE-AAC-PS. That's why Adagio's free stream was so impressive.

Oops, Cesky rozhlas D-dur does have a home page even though there's no link to it from Icecast:http://www.rozhlas.cz/d-dur/english

Great Radio is gone. Bartok Radio - I can no longer find listen links. Cesky rozhlas D-dur - No home page but you can find a listen link at Icecast.org.Radio Paradise - Should have mentioned them before. 128 kbps LC-AAC. Self-described as eclectic...

The greatest classical channel of all is Adagio. It's best stream is 128 kbps Ogg (subscription) but the free 64 kbps AAC+ stream sounds better than most 128 kbps mp3 streams.
