| DACs With Killer Built-In Preamps I have the AMR 77 right now and did remove my Ayon pre from the signal chain. The AMR pre delivered a smoother and more detailed sound top to bottom. It made the Ayon pre sound colored and slow. However, I'm saving for the Empirical Overdrive. Wha... | |
| Soooo many choices. For that price you can get a used Eastern Electric Dac+ with the discrete op-amps. Mine made great music for a long time before I bought an AMR 77. And the EE Dac+ was very close to the overall performance of the much more expensive AMR. | |
| speaker recommendations needed There are plenty of good smaller speaker to suggest, what's your budget? How about a little more detail on what exactly you want in a speaker? While waiting for that info, take a look into Vapor Audio and the Odyssey Kismet monitor. | |
| NOLA, Fritz, or used Totem Hawk - Want Drama From that list, the Fritz speakers are the ones to go with. | |
| Ayon Audio Forum- all questions and suggestion I had been talking to Charlie at Ayon about buying the AMR. I bought my Triton from him. I just found a really good deal on it while in Hong Kong, about 1/2 price. It was an authorized dealer so no problems with service. Reliability has been fine ... | |
| Ayon Audio Forum- all questions and suggestion I bought it while I was in Hong Kong for a conference, and shipped it back to my wife. Why? | |
| Ayon Audio Forum- all questions and suggestion I've been thinking on upgrading. Right now I have a Triton I that has performed wonderfully for about 4 years. I'm thinking of moving to the Triton monoblocks. Has anybody made a similar move of Ayon integrated to monoblocks? If so, how much impro... | |
| The best speaker you ever heard? I have a very full time job that's not at all related to Audio. I'm just a very enthusiastic owner, 20 years of Hi-Fi merry-go-round, and now I'm off thanks to the Cirrus. And yes I have helped Vapor at a couple shows, but no favors or payment ...... | |
| The best speaker you ever heard? Vapor Audio Cirrus Black - after being moved from home for work for the last 3 months, I finally got home this week and fell in love with them all over again. For my ears they're just the perfect balance of all the audiophile buzz words. | |

| Small Speakers For A Large Room... If you don't listen loud and use a subwoofer, you should be able to fill the room with just about any quality stand-mount. I'd say choosing the type of sound you want would be more important than how loud they can get.I'll throw a suggestion out t... | |
| Int amp and Dynaudios My neighbor is using an Audio Flight One with his, and it's a nice pairing. When we tried my Ayon Triton with it, things got a bit fat sounding. I'd have to say that fast, clean solid state is a better pairing than tubes with the C1's. | |
| New amp Don't forget the postamp, critical to proper function. | |
| Top monitors 3K - 6K range Micro Utopia Be and SHL5's, those were my last 2 speakers. The Vapor Cirrus replaced both, now is the first time I can remember where I'm not thinking at all about upgrades. No dealers to give you a demo, but write Vapor and there might be an owne... | |
| Big Step Up from Totem Hawks? 10k Speakers? Vapor Audio Joule would be a great choice, one of the best at RMAF this year and offers the best quality of components and construction of anything in that price range. I also like the used Acoustic Zen Crescendo suggestion, those have been enjoya... |
