A Bright Pair of Watt Puppys
I don't think your room is too small, Lee. And driver excursion varies with design -- some woofers never move, others flap at the least provocation. Your Hales sound a lot different in the same room and system?
Integrated Amp for VR4jr
You might want to look at the Gamut integrated.
buffalo terastation - doesn't allow special charac
I've heard of this problem. In fact, someone suggested I stay away from the Buffalo products for this reason. If you contact Buffalo, they should have something to say (you would think).
Best Audiophile Coverage Of '07 CES?
Stereophile is doing blog coverage, which is pretty good. Jason Serinus did a terrific job of this for them at RMAF, but the CES blog is written by a cast of characters and is a bit more light and flippant than Jason's meaty observations, but stil...
Review: Bent Audio Tap Linestage
I am evaluating the TAP right now and at one time owned the Placette Active (and currently have a Placette passive). Two comments I would like to add to your fine review. First, the TAP includes first-rate functionality: channel balance, phase inv...
Speakers small enough for desktop use

Unless you were using a preamp with a high output impedance, I think it's unlikely that that the input impedance differences between those amps are the reason they sounded different. (Input impedance is different from input sensitivity.) The Pass ...

Comparison of Thiel CS2.4 vs. Vandersteen 3A Sig.
I power mine with Krell, yes with the "harshest" of amps through the "harshest" of speakers. Can you imagine? Oh the humanity!LOL... very good!
Any good cdp with digital inputs
Amen to that! Anyone designing a new CDP for the high end today that does not have a digital input is a fool.
If you had to pay full retail, would you...???
Are you saying there's something wrong with being into trading hi-fi equipment?

Interesting thought, Sean.
Passive preamps: What are the relevant numbers?
I'm not sure what your amps input impedance is, but if it higher than 40Kohms you shuld be fineDo you consider this a general rule of thumb where passives are concerned, that they feed into loads of >40K ohms? Why is this?
