How do the dedicated videoconferencing systems work? Kubla, my understanding (you would know) is that the studios and networks use that technology to look at dailies and I assume the quality is excellent. Have you tried Googling the subject?

Bill, the idea of the mineral oil is to thin the silicone, not to be a complete replacement for it.I am using the fluid from Turntable Basics, the 600,000 cSt version, which is what they specify for monopivot damping wells.

Thanks for looking out for me, Newbie. :-)I just put on a record that is slightly warped on the outer portion and it won't track because the damping of the arm doesn't allow it to drop fast enough.
