New LP Returns
"Back in the old days" LP producers never took back returns either. The thing was dealers and distributors could usually shuffle the defectives into the 'overstock' and process them out. (Record companies used to make huge quantities of 'pop' reco...
Worth it to upgrade to Rega P3?
My advice is your key words:"I am very happy with it"Changing something you are 'very happy' with is a BIG MISTAKE!The vast majority of audio nuts cannot find 'very happy' let alone 'content', or 'resignation'.Stick with what is making you happy. ...
How did you choose your equipment?
I place all the pictures of stereo stuff spread out on the garage floor. I put a chicken in the garage. Whichever picture the chicken shits on.. THAT is the equipment I buy.(8^Q...Actually I just buy what is well liked (good comments, reviews) and...
Rain-X as CD Enhancement Treatment
The head of the laser is only microns from the surface of the disc. (a hair is many, many times thicker.. even the tiniest particle of ash or soot is several times bigger than the gap)The laminar flow of air around and between the head and the sur...
Two Mono Attenuators VS One Stereo Attenuator
A pair of mono attenuators can remove the need for a balance control. Removing the circuitry for the balance control will simplify the construction and inprove the sound by having less complex stuff for the signal to pass through.Balancing the pai...
Rain-X as CD Enhancement Treatment
Good idea. I use Scratch-X to polish my CD DVD's.Any material (IMO) that removes the 'stiction' from a sliding media interface will lead to an improvement. Many Cd DVD surfaces are not slippery. Once they are.. the disc plays better (IMO).(and I wo...

Best way to sell 50 rock albums
Agree that it is hard to give an answer without knowing the exact condition. The biggest problem is the seller over-rating the condition! An LP that looks perfect to you is probably only in 'good' condition, with that price being 1/2 of 'verygood' c...
Micro Seiki RX 5000
You do not seem very 'mechanically minded'. Leave the TT alone if it is working! If you screw it up.. you will be very sorry! bending the spindle is your biggest worry, bending the bearing shaft another. My advice LEAVE IT ALONE!!!!The old wisdom co...
Swapping Rotel RCD971 to Luxman D500xs..wise move?
Old CD players are a guess as to how many hours on the laser. I put 5 years 10 hours a day, every day, on one. (built like a tank), or it might have sat in a box for eight years....The Rotel is good. Swapping it for one you have not even heard pla...

yes it is normal
Do connection/contact solutions work or not?
Also, if you use it on male interconnects, a Q-Tip works wonders to slip into the slot between the pin and socket wall. (You may have to flatten the Q-Tip or remove some of the fiber)(I have used Tweek, I now use ProGold)
Do connection/contact solutions work or not?
The BIG THING is to not use too much!Whatever kind is used apply only enough to coat the surfaces. Usually wipe off any that will come off with a dry paper towel (Viva towels do not scratch)The coating only needs (and should be) a few microns thic...
