Does hearing the best in high end audio make your opinions more valid?
I agree, it is way too subjective but, given all possible options, I would have to go with the one who seems not to care about anything but the feel. At least she/he would spare me of discussions about bare wires plugged into the outlet, magnetic ...
Room treatment and speaker placement????
shadowcat,Once you scratch the surface, level of information becomes visibly lacking. Manners non-existent from the start.
Room treatment and speaker placement????
"I tried to follow the "professionals"..I figured they knew more about it than I did. YMMV"I thought so, too. Then I looked at the promo pictures on established manufacturers’ websites. Speakers in positions that would trigger a few heart attacks ...
What will become of my beloved CDs?
Now, the first question remaining would be if CD-resolution downloads/streams can actually sound like those CDs. Assuming that new gear does unlock whatever potential CDs have. If downloads/streams equal it, it becomes matter of, more or less, onl...

Given that all the music we hear through the electronic systems is essentially fake and heavily processed, it makes it easier to admit the sound you want is the sound you like.In case anyone is interested in getting the sound an actual musician li...

"If you’re listening to the sound of the equipment then it’s totally failing to do it’s job regardless of price."I cannot agree more, but some might disagree. I think if you are really focusing on getting the right sound, you have a hobby. Nothing...
What will become of my beloved CDs?
folkfreak,I guess, for now, I will have to stick to my copy of Sunrise CD that does contain first two Elvis’ songs together with pops, crackles, and whatever else it is. I stick to the CD while actually having it hard-driven. Hey, you do not want ...
What will become of my beloved CDs?
folkfreak,Wow, I stand corrected big time. I had no idea anyone would make 78s these days. It may be a niche market, but it seems that it is a market. The secret is that I actually always want a turntable with 78 although I own exactly zero record...
What will become of my beloved CDs?
I agree with jafant. CD players will be around for a long time. Maybe like turntables these days. Irrelevant in bigger picture, but with enough of die-hard support to make them profitable in those low numbers. Something like 78s. Some turntables c...

treblebob,"It’s hard to fake being able to afford those things, and some shops use this to avoid spending time to explain their qualities."It happens even if you can afford it. That approach is puzzling, to say the least. I was not allowed to ente...
Budget/value SS power amp recommendation
Older generations NAD is a reliable contender. I cannot guarantee for newer ones, though.sufentanil,What made you pick that name? It is quite unexpected.

calvinj,That is all that really matters. I think it does not even matter if it sounds natural (I am not implying yours does not) as long as you like it.

"It’s even better when they tell you that although x costs only 10% of y, it actually sounds just as good, or even better!"Every now and then, I read similar statements. I may be unlucky one, but have never heard a system that sounds same or bette...
