Question about speaker power handling
As above -- don't worry. Speakers will be fine!
Lugnut needs your advice on small speakers
Following up on T's diy route, other killer kits are also available. One strong contender (and Voigt competitor) is the Hammer Dynamics kit.A good Voigt or a Hammer should, in most (all) respects, outperform small commercial spkrs...
Lugnut needs your advice on small speakers
I have heard the little Triangles (in fact had them @ home for a while). I enjoyed playing music through them.To simplify description: they are pleasant to listen to as long as one doesn't have inordinate expectations. They are neither the most de...
How Big is Your Music Collection
Jes45 sezI did it (collect LPs/ music) because it became an addiction, almost like a disease.Yup, as you say, exactly. Very much like a disease! And this can reach ridiculous levels on classical: +500 LPs and a few cds of Beethoven Symphonies &...
Virgo II owners: What amp to buy?
My budget is under $2k if possibleWhy not consider one of the Odyssey amps? They're quite affordable new and, reportedly, their design is from the same stable as yr pre.
Deqx vs. Behringer or Dbx Digital Crossovers?
Coe -- I have a feeling the Accuphase offers more of an equaliser functionality rather than a "xover" one (as in the dexq or the Behringer).Controlling volume is indeed a tricky issue. In my case, we fed an analogue signal to the dexq via a passiv...
Virgo II owners: What amp to buy?
Excuse my stating the obvious, but why not use a Symphonic Line 7? You have the pre from the same stable... (v.good pre, btw).Must be some used 7's around!Incidentally, I once used a 7 on a pair of Virgos to very good effect I might add:)
JMLab Mezzo Utopia VS Verity Audio Parsifal
I'd also recommend the JMLab. For the same reasons...
Anyone tried the 29ga. 5n Pure Silver wire?
I assume you have the 10kOhm S&B (BTW, excellent devices!). I imagine the first thing you can do is try out the new config with good quality enameled copper wire (magnet wire, used for voice coils, transformers, etc) that you can probably get ...
Analysis Audio at High End Show
Sogood: "Early" Duetta IIs, no tweaks, owner claimed they were in excellent working condition -- they certainly looked beautiful! Cheers
Deqx vs. Behringer or Dbx Digital Crossovers?
Are there any direct comparisons in the same speaker systemUh, yes, see my post above! I'll add that the guy upgraded fm the Behringer to the Deqx. But, again, given the total cost of the spkr system, the Deqx was judged an acceptable outlay.Final...
Analysis Audio at High End Show
Apparently 6moons (or was it positive-feedback?) was to feature a review this month.I had listened to one Analysis model and compared with a pair of Apogee Duettas. It was big -- but still smaller than the Apogees. They were both in the same large...
Deqx vs. Behringer or Dbx Digital Crossovers?
is it worth the extra dollars to spring for the Deqx?As we're talking of a +10x price differential over the Behringer, that's a tough question to answer...The Deqx does sound better in all respects; however, I listened to a unit that's not mine, s...
I need the help of all analog nuts
Ed -- GREAT site (& many thanks from at least one analogue user).I'll be sending in info that may be useful, as I get it -- now that there is a reason to search for info!Cheers!
Biamping from a 5 channel amp?
There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with what you're planning to do. Use wire of reasonable quality (shielded single strand is probable better), copper is fine.
