| Pass Labs X250 - Good Match for my Apogee Stages? Yes BUT I bypassed some caps in them on the mids and the impedance is more in the 4ohm range now. This Pass amp is the best I have been through a bunch. Can't afford the bigger Pass amps wish I could but I am happy now. | |
| Pass Labs X250 - Good Match for my Apogee Stages? Yes it will work perfectly and drive 3 ohms with no sweat. You may want a tubed preamp in front of it to warm it up a bit.Pass is not cold sounding but not tubey sounding either. The Apogee may sound a little thread bare with all solid state stuff.... | |
| VAM1202 same as Phillips CDM 1201? I have two that are new I bought off ebay for my cd player but had it repaired by someone else. If you can take a picture of it, that would be helpful. They are more than a few bucks though. | |
| conrad johnson comparison MF200 VS. Premier 4 Owned the MF200. It is warm and tube like. A little slow bass and not super transparent. I began over the years to hear the character of the highs which led to its sale. But a powerhouse of an amp with a nice warm sound. The Premier 4 is a better ... | |
| Supratek or Rogue? Owned the Rogue 99 magnum and now own the Chardonney. The Rogue was big sounding had good dynamics and detail, but it sounded a little noisy to me and did something weird to the soundstage. Hard to explain. The Supratek is far better in my opinion.... | |
| PASS LABS X250 Question Pass amps are typically very unrated in power. My X150 amp puts out around 250 watts into 8 ohms and I think pushing 400 in 4 ohms. I don't doubt the X250 probably easily puts out 600-700 watts into 4ohms. I have never run out of steam with my X15... | |
| supratek chardonnay with Pass x250 Have mine with the X150. Best combo I have found. I tried many other preamps with the Pass Labs. I like the Supratek best. | |
| How many 'listen outside of the box' design? Have Eminent technology speakers. I wish the macros dynamics was better, but that is it. It does so many things right, I know I would have to spend big bucks to better it with a box speaker. Every speaker design has some limitations. This planar s... | |
| 2k$ speakers that meet my criteria? heard the hyperions - really enjoyed themended up purchasing eminent tech Speakers not the best macro dynamics but incredibly nuanced and transparent while still been sweet and not dry. | |
| Preamp Deal of the Century It is just like a 6sn7 spec wise. Here is a more detail.http://www.tnt-audio.com/accessories/shuguang_treasures_cv181_pt2_e.htmlThey call it a cv-181 because of the way it looks but it measures like 6sn7 so you should have no problems.Let me know ... | |
| Threshold SA/4E or Pass X-250?? Not Familiar with the Theshold, but the Pass X-250 is a newer design, more up to date.It was suppose to be the best sounding amps in the original X Series. It is not a warm sounding amp, but with a good tube preamp, I don't think there is much bet... | |
| Conrad Johnson PV-10 vs. PV-11 PV-11 is an excellent preamp, and I bet with some upgraded caps and such would compare to some of the better units available. I owned one for 10+ years and enjoyed it tremendously. My understanding is the PV-12 has a similar line stage as the PV-1... | |
| Budget single disc player-under $600 The Esound CD-E5 is better than the Jolida. I had a Jolida with upgraded tubes. I am considering selling mine not because I don't love it, but I am going the HTPC route and need a dac. Not sure what would better or equal the Esound for the money. | |
| $2k amp for Eminent Technology LFT 8. check out this link just saw it excellent info.http://www.audioasylum.com/forums/MUG/bbs.htmlscroll to "Amps for Maggie 1.6 and Eminent Technology 8B" | |
| $2k amp for Eminent Technology LFT 8. I would suggest a Pass labs amp used. I am running a X150 with my ETs which puts out around 250 watts before clipping. You will notice a tremendous improvement in sound! What preamp are you running?I had a number of amps before this one. The Pass ... |
