Upgrade from Rega P3-24 .....
Got my P3-24 used about 9 months ago and remember thinking how much better it sounded than my old Kenwood TT but also noticing the P3's pacing was only as good and maybe not as good as the Kenwood. Now there is a real jump and boogie that was tota...
Upgrade from Rega P3-24 .....
The Rega White belt arrived 5 days ago and I can report noticeable improvement. The slight warble of piano and other instruments is much improved. The overall presentation is more coherent. I am guessing the old belt very much needed replacing. Gr...
Upgrade from Rega P3-24 .....
The white belt seems to have more supporters than detractors. My belt is most likely over a year or two old so it is a no brainer. This plus the Groovetracer Subplatter would be a nice upgrade. I'm going to do both. Upgrading the table should come...

How about the Audio-Technica AT-150MLX? Would that be an upgrade over the Exact Cart?

Mozart Fans Only
George Szell with the Cleveland Orchestra is a good interpreter of Mozart. Just picked up Symphonies 35, 40 and 41 on CD. The recordings are from the late 50's/ 60's. Well recorded.
Trip to NYC, What to do
In Living Stereo (Shindo/Devore), Stereo Exchange. I would go to the websites of your favorite gear or gear that you are courious about and see if they have dealers in NYC. Many will be represented. I think Audio Note now has a dealer in NY.

Salectric,I put the Tants on my cap burner for two weeks before installing into the amp circuit but even after that, their sound has been changing over the past four days. Last night they were starting to sound luxurious and rich but still maintai...

Bigkidz,That rotary switch is great idea and thus provides instant results. Nice! I will have to try the Shinkoh's when I begin to "voice" my newly built phono pre. It's good to keep in mind that I/all of us have different ears and listening priori...

After a month with the TX2757 in the 6C6 cathode position, including bypassing them with Black Gate Caps I decided to pull these resistors. They did not provide the richness and room filling sound that the A-B's and the older AN Tantalum did. A fe...

Wow, what an amazing post!! Thanks to all.

Every time I have changed the 6C6 cathode resistor I have heard a sonic difference and it is not subtle. This is a single ended amp with a low parts count. When I pulled the bypass capacitor that made made a dramatic difference in sound as well as...
Sound is DARK / FORWARD / TRANSPARENT?
Sound and the way people hear it is a very individual thing just like the way people experience wine. Putting these sensuous stimuli into absolute terminology will always fall short. Wine descriptions crack me up. For example when trying to descri...
Sound is DARK / FORWARD / TRANSPARENT?
These terms are relative to ones experience. If you visit an audio shop or a friend’s house and hear their systems you will form an opinion of the sonic characteristics of that particular system and hopefully retain a sonic memory of that system. ...
