Absorb or Diffuse in between speakers?
05-25-12: BryoncunninghamI agree with the other posters that it depends on your room. I also agree that you should experiment.Personally, I've tried both absorption and diffusion between my speakers. I prefer diffusion by a considerable margin. I ...
240 VAC 60Hz amp running at 230 VAC 50Hz - safe?
Thanks for the reply Ngjockey. The response from the manufacturer on this question was"..the truth is that all of our transformers are manufactured for 50Hz operation. It just so happens that they work just fine at 60Hz in the U.S. also"Does this r...
Room treatments - GIK Vs Acoustimac
Hi Milpai,There is some pretty strong rational for having the listening chair some distance away from the rear wall. I've found measurements (using REW or XTZ) the best way to locate the listening seat position. This thread may interest you.
Modwright KWI-200 Integrated, Any experiences?
I had the opportunity to slot a KWI-200 into my downstairs system this morning. Two discoveries worth mentioning.First, I really appreciated the KWI-200's reading of the music. Warm, organic and natural to succinctly sum things up. Versus my refere...
Two and a half hour audition of the Raidho C1.1
Thanks for sharing your experience with us Vapor and congratulations on your Cirrus speaker which for many has pushed the boundary on price vs. performance. You've observed that RAAL and Raidho tweeters made many of the top domes simply sound slow,...
Two and a half hour audition of the Raidho C1.1
04-18-12: Vapor1Yes the comparison isn't perfectly valid in every way. […] :-) 04-18-12: Vapor1I will say that I'd wager in a same room/same electronics comparision, that you'd likely prefer the Raidho's. That's interesting Vapor1. Other than the...
Two and a half hour audition of the Raidho C1.1
Happy weekend to you to Dracule.I would like to think that one doesn’t have to be anal to understand that having multiple uncontrolled variables makes it impossible to draw any ‘valid’ cause/effect relationships and / or conclusions from the audit...
Two and a half hour audition of the Raidho C1.1
Here is how i read it Dracule.“I had the opportunity to audition this unique 2 way all by my lonesome…”No.You spent two and one half hours listening to a system which included C-1.1 speakers. You were unfamiliar with the system, you were unfamilia...
Two and a half hour audition of the Raidho C1.1
>There is no advantage I hear from the C1.1 system compared to mine. Actually I prefer my system.<Unless you heard the C1.1 with YOUR amp and in YOUR room, you can't unequivocally say that. It may be your system that makes your speakers sou...

Best Sounding CD / SACD player under 15K
Been through a number of players over the years. Currently (and for some time) been using the Cary Audio 306 PRO SACD/HDCD/CD/DAC.The players high resolution with great bass and a hint of warmth which made it a far more attractive buy for me compa...
Best CD player under $5K?
I am a little wary on upgrade programs for CD Players. Some leave the player sounding 'different' rather than 'better'.
Cary SLP 03
You can't have it all guys. If you want tubes to give a warmer, lush, dimensional sound there will be a price to pay in terms of dynamics.
Best CD player under $5K?
Hi Ivan,I owned an Cambridge Audio 840C for several years and thought very highly of it. I remember auditioning many more expensive players at the time of purchase but the 840C held its own and then some. Outstanding resolution for a $1500 player....
Best CD player under $5K?
The Cambridge Audio 840C is real steal at $1500. I had to spend many times that amount to find something better. The Cary Audio CD500 gets the thumbs up too but do budget for a decent power cord is third party feet to optimise it.
