| Can interconnect cables improve sound stage height, width, and depth? "Wire may be wire," but the design and implementation of a cable does affect it’s sonic presentation. I have found it has to to due with the metallurgy and how it’s implemented by the designer.Look at all the different conductors and dielectrics u... | |
| Moving from MM to MC I was going to recommend a Grado as well. But, with the Grado's unshielded design, will it pick up hum from the Technics motor? Anybody with experience to answer this question? | |
| Looking for Better Jitter Reduction in a DAC @leemaze, nothing under $100 that I know of, except maybe used. For a low cost LPS, check the archives for info on the Teradak or Swagman Labs. The Teradak seems to be well liked by quite a few members (made in China). The iFi Purifier requires a 5... | |
| The correct cable to connect rica preamp to xor inputs of amp This adapter looks to be the correct design for your purposes. There's no way to know if it will sound better than RCA - RCA until you try it. It's still an unbalanced connection. | |
| Looking for Better Jitter Reduction in a DAC @leemaze, Agon member jond recommended Audio Note after i posted a qwery about NOS dacs. Border Patrol and AN looked the most promising and as luck would have it, a dealer was selling a 2.1 Signature in XL condition. There was a 3.1 available, but... | |
| Looking for Better Jitter Reduction in a DAC @leemaze, Sorry for not updating this thread, I usually do.I upgraded to a used Audio Note DAC2.1 Signature, it's a NOS ladder dac. I decided to stop trying to put band-aids on a budget DAC. The AN has transformed my system, it sounds wonderful. I... | |
| Advice needed on Amp I’m not entirely disagreeing with dweller since I believe in leaving areas in the room untreated, but a wall of glass is terrible for sonics. If your front wall was plaster or drywall, then maybe don’t treat it. You could help the imaging of the s... | |
| Omega single driver speakers @fizz, although I haven’t heard them, Louis told me they are not a laid-back speaker. That’s why I didn’t give them a try. For classical, I want a presentation that puts me mid-way back in the concert hall. They seem to be a forward sounding speak... | |
| Moving from MM to MC @chakster makes a good point. He is using a modified tonearm with better damping than your stock Technics. And your stock TT is not optimal for MC. There are many good MM/MI carts available for $300 which would be a significant upgrade in SQ. | |
| Omega single driver speakers I received lots of good advice on a thread I posted, "Tekton or Omega." I called Louis the designer to get the real dope and we spoke for a while. The single driver speakers are fast, transparent, and detailed.I listen mainly to classical and he s... | |
| Moving from MM to MC I agree your next move should be to a good MM/MI cart. There will be a great improvement in SQ over your budget Shure cart.Keep in mind that MC is very revealing of not only the music on the vinyl, but will reveal any flaws plus noise from your ph... | |
| 2 or 3 way socket Didn't you ever upgrade your system? | |
| 2 or 3 way socket My advise is not to buy one of those cheap items you linked to. Those are for use with computers, not really for high quality audio. You should look for a unit built using quality parts that can handle high current (amps). It should be thought of ... | |
| 2 or 3 way socket it seemed that some people use hospital grade stuff,When hospital-grade is recommended it usually applies to the AC wall receptacle (grounded). The MCRU power strip looks like a great idea, it gives you flexibility to expand your system. It also gi... | |
| Speaker Cable Upgrade... Advice Please I have found the Audience PowerChord and PS Audio PC’s to have a smooth and realistic top-end. They both present a laid-back image with excellent soundstaging. You can gain more detail as you move up the PowerChord line. The Cardas Golden cables wi... |
