Scott Nixon Chibi Saru DAC with PSX: Review
I have the older Chibi...I'm not familiar with the Saru Dac+, do you know the difference in them?
New Opera Callas Monitor
Haven't heard the new one, but fwiw I thought the older Super Paveratti was better than the new one.
Great old speakers that are as good as new ones
Dayton Wright LSM-1's...similar design to the Spica 50's, but a different type of driver, I believe it was gas-filled or something, the CRS has kicked in (Can't remmeber sh*t)...still listen to them in a second system and they sound as good as eve...
Opinions on Full-Range/single driver speakers
To get a good idea try the Yahoo SET forum group, as they often delve into the full range/single driver speakers as well...actually, just as much as SET, they go hand in hand.Good group of people, unlike so many forums that are just a bunch of dop...
Dissapointed with my new speakers
MB9061, FINALLY someone else who will admit the Monitor's are BRIGHT for music....guess it's the metal drivers that make them that way...I had a great deal on a pair of the top of the line (can't remember which one) a few years ago and really want...
Which MoFi and MoFi UHQR LPs?
Couldn't agree more on Aja and John Klemmer....I was going to list my Aja lp and decided whoever bought it would give me negative feedback for as bad as it sounds! Touch is a keeper, that's for sure.
Hopelessly mid fi?
I don't have a super expensive setup (obviously relative), but the difference in 320k mp3's and flac are very obvious to me when played back on a Consonance 120L CDP...yet 5 years ago using a Yammie HT Receiver they sounded the same....so you're a...
Phono Pre Amp?
I tried the Bellari, way too tubey for me.I went with a Graham Slee SE2 which does MM and high output MC, retails at $400, but you can probably get a deal on one....it's a TAS Recommended component in their latest rag...if it doesn't beat anything...
Which solid state amp for Von Schweikert VR-4.5?
Anybody notice they killed the 'Audiogon fees' thread in miscellaneous audio section?
Help Tube Power Amp Recommendations
The AES Super Amp's are nice, for about your budget you could use the 'power amp' section of the Eastern Electric M520, it really sings under that scenario...many, many options out there. Listed right now is: nice CJ MV55, pair of Primaluna Prolog...
Help with uninspiring sound with my turntable.
Alignment is a good suggestion, but don't expect much until the Pre is broken in.
good DAC , recommend plz and your reason?
You won't see them listed every day or month for that matter, but a Boulder Cable modified Art DI/O can probably be had these days for $600 or less, and frankly, compared head to head, the Benchmark isn't in the same league...ooops, never mind, yo...
High efficiency speakers
try the yahoo 'SET' forum, they'll have many ideas, as most there have been into SET for years.
Simple System for Super Senior...continued
Don't worry about the 'brightness', he probably can't hear above 12-15k anyway, that just comes with age, unfortunately I KNOW!I would actually suggest a single-driver speaker that is going to lean toward a wonderful mid-range, which he could prob...
CD recorder?
That's a nice looking unit, wish they had that when I bought mine a couple of years ago, Marantz Pro CDR510, which does a very good job....I haven't gotten into the intricacies of the unit, it does much, much more than I'll ever use it for. Probab...
