REL Strata III - faint crackle/pop sounds
Good luck with Sumiko and you better have lots of room on your credit card.
break in tips
"Sounded good right out of the box then at between 50 and 100 hrs they sounded absolutely horrible, but then it only got better until 400 hrs and now they sound GREAT."Speaker break-in is all in your head. Now how can a speaker sound good and then...
Dynaudio or B&W
Personally I think the 5.4's sound great with most music but NOT and I repeat, not heavy metal or most hard rock. Maybe because they are so revealing and a lot of the harder type music is not recorded very well but when I brought mine home it real...
Is break in quicker with Planars and Stats?
You know what they say about opinions. Musicnoise made perfectly good sense to me and we could argue this forever.I have bought several "new" speakers and they still sound the same weeks later and I think it's all in your head.

I don't believe in "speaker break-in".
Subwoofer reccomendations
ACI Titan. Better than REL.
Subwoofer for VA Haydn
I had a REL Stentor and for less than a third the cost an ACI Titan that I have now sounds just as good. Probably not as easy to set up though. Plus Sumiko sucks for customer service.
Help me spend $5,000 on a 5.1 speaker system
For home theater you can't beat Definitive Tech. I've had several and it blows away most and for rock and roll it even sounded better than my current, way more expensive system I have now.
B&W 800 vs McIntosh xls 360 vs Dyn Audio S5.4
Those are the very speakers I was auditioning several years ago when I was replacing a Definitive Tech system. I ulimatley went with the DYN's but if I had it to over again I would have bought the Mac's. For home theater the D.T. I had would blow ...
Dynaudio S5.4 vs Confidence C2
No where in the owners manual or online brochures could I find the freqency response of these speakers, just that they have powerful woofers and I know what kind of material would be played on these speakers at a "dealer". I guess the point I'm tr...
Dynaudio S5.4 vs Confidence C2
"Incredible bass output"This just my opinion, but as an owner of the 5.4 I think this is somewhat misleading. To me for an $8k speaker I think these are seriously lacking in the bass dept. and sound anemic without a sub. Maybe I'm just a bass houn...
Cat owner wants speakers
I wouldn't have a cat in the house unless it's declawed and why does it matter if the cat stays in the house anyway? I tried spraying my cat with the water bottle and she just looked at me, why are you doing that? didn't faze her.
Rel Studio Subwoofer
Sirspeedy, Yes I have a mp3 player and it sounds fantastic for what it is but it would NEVER replace a good home stereo. I started in the early 70's buying what I could afford and always, to the chagrin of my S/O, had a significant amount of money...
Rel Studio Subwoofer
I bought the REL too because of everything I read on here and elsewhere that it would blend well with my speakers. I personally don't have enough patience to fiddle with all the settings and have limited placement opportunities because of the shap...
Rel Studio Subwoofer
Thanks Sirspeedy. I'm going to have a local repair place take a look at it but I'm not going to hold my breath. I may be using the cabinet for firewood this winter. Also with the local "hi-fi" shop being a thing of the past there is no choice but t...
