Is anyone using either a Allnic L3000 or L1500?
I had an L3000 for a while, older transformers. I loved the design and flexibility, but I was nonplussed on the sonics. In my system, it just seemed way too polite, not dynamic enough. At the same time, a good friend, who had the L3000 in a super ...
Is the CD and DVD/Bluray going away?
Download movie offerings are so limited. I would only embrace this if that changed dramatically.
Were any of you taping concerts circa 1972-88?
Yeah - I had a nice sounding JVC portable tape deck. It made warm sounding recordings. My buddy had a nakamichi 550, which was very good.
Has anyone experianced Synesthesia?
""What am I selling?"...... Perhaps my soul, but not my dignity."Can you explain how it is possible to sell your soul without losing your dignity? To me, dignity is about having a soul, not about performing well regardless of all other considerati...
How do I smooth out violins?
I think you're going to have to play around with substitutions a bit. Do you have any friends with gear, who would be willing to bring it over? I'd focus on the preamp and source (CDP). What about your room. Is it overly "live"? I'm assuming that ...
Ripping problem
It's my understanding that WAV files do not contain any tagging. The tagging is in your program library, that keeps track of the WAV file and associates information related to the files. That is why I use AIFF rather than WAV. As Mapman mentioned,...

Make sure to factor in climate change to your next purchase!!!
Regional Climate Effect On Speakers
If you live at high elevations, this can be a problem for electrostatics. Very dry air is also more susceptible to static electricity. I'm not sure if that can affect electrostats...
Best Amp for Klipsch La Scala Speakers? Xmas Gift
I ran La Scalas with 300b SET amps with great effect. Very lush, beautiful midrange while still being very dynamic. I was using Quicksilver 300B's, but I can't suggest to you which amp to use. For a tighter presentation all around, I would suggest...
Amplifier for Quads
Agree with Csontos. Anyhow, any restored Quad should have a clamping circuit, which will protect your speakers.
Amplifier for Quads
Hi Rmarcus - I've been going low budget with my ESL57's. I have a Bedini, and like it alot, but I like even more the VTL Tiny Triode. Other ones I considered were a Musical Reference EL84 amp (I like EL84's), Rogue (I forget the model). I also tri...
Amp, On A Budget?
Aragon 2002. Great sounding inexpensive amp.
Office partitions as sound panels
Elizabeth - I don't think that is true, because:1) You can go to the manufacturer's page and view tables of the amount of absorption per frequency over a range of frequencies2) The limitations of absorption pattern will not be any different for co...
Please recommend an amp for an ancient system?
How about buying a used Marantz receiver in good condition and having it restored for 2-3 hundred dollars. For $100, the Pure I-20 is a good way to get music off of an ipod touch or iphone (though you'd need an adaptor for the iphone5.
Top or best amps for merlin vsm
Clio09 makes a good point. I believe the power supply regulation in the M-60's is higher quality than the M-30. So if you have the space for the amps, you could cut back on tubes and heat and get the benefits of the monoblocks.
