Any Caviar Fans Here?
My favorite roe purveyor:(http://paramountcaviar.com/ContactUs.aspx) Actually, I am a PETA fanatic(People for the Eating of Tasty Animals), BUT- NOT a fan of the wanton destruction of any species. BTW- Salmon roe has one of the highest Omega 3 con...
VPi HW 19 jr upgrade
yogi- Here you will find a copy of the VPI manual: (http://vpiindustries.com/files/HW-19MK-3%20MANUAL%20MAT.pdf) You'll note that the spindle is mounted in the CHASSIS, and the platter(or course) is inserted on it. Further: "plinth" is defined as ...
VPi HW 19 jr upgrade
Mr SS- I was referring to the Mk IV chassis, that VPI offers as an upgrade. It's one piece(no armboard).
VPi HW 19 jr upgrade
Per a recent conversation with VPI: The was an, "early" Mk II, frosted acrylic platter, and the, "later" acrylic/lead Mk II & III platter which you own. Regarding the springs, vs the pucks: Some prefer one over the other. The low cost allows f...
VPi HW 19 jr upgrade
Mr SS- I'm at a loss as to what is meant by a, "one piece plinth". The HW19 plinth is the wooden bottom, to which the feet are attached, and they are all, "one piece". It's a simply thing to drill the Mk IV chassis for your tonearm, and, staying w...
Ray Samuels F117 Nighthawk vs. PS Audio GCPH
If you do go with the PS Audio; install a HI-FI Tuning Supreme fuse and use a Zu Audio Mother(or other heavy gauge/high quality) cord. You'll be very pleasantly surprised at the transformation. The units already contain fast recovery rectifiers,an...
VPi HW 19 jr upgrade
The Mk III or IV's steel and acrylic chassis, is a definite improvement, over the Jr's. You can buy a one piece, MK IV sub-chassis, from VPI for $300.00: (http://www.vpiindustries.com/static.php?page=HW-19) Add a SAMA for $400.00(or build your own...
Lifespan of a quality solid state amplifier?
In 1981; I bought a Hafler DH500(kit), to power the woofers of my biamped system(I was a Hafler dealer, at the time). Gave it to my son, 15 years ago, when I bought a Hafler Trans*nova 9505, to replace it(same purpose). He recently sold it to anot...
Upgrading Fuses
Sounds like I was preaching to the choir. Happy listening!
Upgrading Fuses
Mr L- re: Maggies and fuses. It's not difficult(in the least), to remove the x-over of a Maggie and bypass the fuse holder completely, eliminating the extraneous connections. Simple as removing a wire from one side of the holder and soldering it t...
vibration control
Mr E- I am NOT the one with a TOTAL lack of COMPREHENSION. Try to FOCUS this time: There are quite a few things in audio that create audible effects(time smearing, loss of image specificity or ambience info, etc), that CANNOT BE MEASURED with the ...
vibration control
Mr E- I don't need an explanation. As I stated earlier: If you don't believe it, or can't hear it- enjoy your bliss! (Just for the sake of response though) There are quite a few things in audio that create audible effects(time smearing, loss of im...
vibration control
A couple decent treatises, on vibration and control, follow. If some don't believe in the effects of vibration on electronics, or can't hear the results: let them enjoy their, "bliss." (http://www.pandathumbaudio.com/vibration.htm) (http://www.gca...
Hey Electricians - Please help
Even though the breaker that the light's wiring is on, is different from the breaker your system's sockets are on; they may still be on the same phase of your incoming AC. That puts them in the same, "circuit."
