Bi-Amping questions
No, you don't need a different preamp. You need a "Y" at the inputs of your amplifiers.
Room treatment success story
Inpieces, I agree with all you wrote. You are on the right track. Keep me posted, I am interested in how it goes.
Jazz from 1957 to 1967 was the most definitive.
Jazz struggled with rock taking over in the 1960s. Then jazz tried to compete with rock and we got jazz fusion, but there was still alot of great jazz. Hopefully the current jazz resurgence will last.
Long ICs versus long speaker cables
I read a lot about specs on this forum and everytime I assemble a system based on specs I walk away disappointed. My best sounding systems used either short speaker cable and short interconnects or short speaker cable and long interconnects. Ampli...
Looking for a preamp...............
The Quicksilver preamp is one of those products that works well in a variety of systems. The ARC LS-3 might be too unforgiving.
Fleetwood Mac
Macdadtexas, Agreed! Abba? Cool? I don't think so. Discussing Fleetwood Mac and Abba on the same forum is a sin.
Fleetwood Mac
I saw Fleetwood Mac live when Billy Barnette was filling in and he was very good. He comes from a musical family. His uncle was Johnny Burnette. Rick Vito plays on Mick Fleetwood Blues Band.
New audiophile looking for first speakers. HELP
Check out the Cerwin Vega CLS 215. Designed by two well known audiophile speaker designers from NHT and Snell. Two 15" woofers and very efficient. Your Mesa Baron has plenty of power. Excellent speaker for rock music.
Fleetwood Mac
Check out the Mick Fleetwood Blues Band. You will hear a lot of their earlier songs including "Black Magic Woman" which was an original Fleetwood Mac song.
High Efficiency Speakers Your top 3 or more
Living Voice speakers are easy to drive and work well with tubes, but not a good value IMHO. Distribution was never good in US and getting worse.
What to do next . . .?
Unsound, Agreed, I prefer the long wall too. The midbass energy should be greatly improved and the stage should be much wider. The Vandersteens don't like to be near side walls and with a 22' long wall there shouldn't be any problem there. The are...
Room treatment success story
One thing is for sure with room treatment, you cannot just ad room treatment the way someone else did because all rooms are different.
Room treatment success story
Inpieces, Closing your eyes helps you to concentrate on the sound without visual distractions. Eventually you will learn to concentrate as well with your eyes opened. This is also why many audiophiles like listening in the dark.
Who is using passive preamps and why?
Herman, What would you rather have? A system that hardly plays above a whisper at full volume or a system that plays loud at 9 o'clock? To say the requirements for passive and active are equal can be misleading to the unsuspecting Audiogon member ...
Room treatment success story
Side wall treatment is beneficial particularly if the room has a left/right imbalance. Front and back walls should follow the live end dead end theory. Preferably live end would be behind the speakers dead end behind the listening position. Clap y...
