Best Amp to drive my Apogee Stages?
Gallant_diva, I'm still a little confused after reading Leo's statement again. He states a 50 watt receiver may drive the speakers well. His "so what" is in regards to quality. "You might find a good receiver of, say, 50 watts/channel output that ...
Why monoblocks?
Minor1, I totally agree. "It is the same logic as why you use separates in the first place. Just step back and ask why you use separates and you answer your own questions".
Why monoblocks?
My comment was not negative toward VAC or Mr. Hayes. I was commenting on the market regarding specific products. I have no personal interest in any product at this time. What was I thinking? I thought we were comparing apples to apples. I'm not tal...

Thank you for clearing that up. Do you think I can run the Stages with 50 watts?
Rotel, no more DVD players?
I see the problem. I wondered into a home theater post by accident. This is why nothing makes sense.
Sound of SED Winged C KT88 vs. SED Winged C 6550's
The Gold Lion KT88 reissue does not sound the same as the original Genalex KT88. For that matter, none of the reissue tubes sound like the originals.
Why monoblocks?
Kclone, He is using a Mark Levinson stereo amp and he wants to go back to monos.

Statman, This is exactly what I was talking about. The Classic 120s actually have twice the power of the Classic 60. I have owned both and both are great amps. You forgot to mention the soundstage was bigger with the monos.Audiofeil, I did the 300...

Gallant_diva, So, does that mean you agree with me? I wrote "The amount of watts is not the issue".You wrote "In fact, the amount of watts is the issue".Leo Spiegel, your hero, wrote "Power isn't the issue here".
Why monoblocks?
Foster_9, Just do it. You will be glad you did. Bigger soundstage and images, better dynamics and better overall sound. Most audiophiles buy stereo amplifiers because it is cheaper than buying monos.
Where to get hi end cables reterminated
Why don't you fix them yourself?
Piggy back conditioners?
I promise I won't say anything.
Newbie question - equipment with good resale value
The Audiogon Blue Book values may only be good for a short time as certain brands and models fall in and out of popularity. If you are going to play the game you have to play it good if you don't want to lose money. There are certain makes and mode...
Sound of SED Winged C KT88 vs. SED Winged C 6550's
Getting information out of Upscale Audio isn't as easy as it used to be. There are some major differences between a KT88 and a 6550 and I have always heard a big difference. I recommend you try Roger Modjeski at Ram Labs for tubes. It's a much bet...
