Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable?
Douglas,You keep attacking the others. Why not provide all this evidence that you speak of? If a Boulder amp at a cost of 99K needs a special power cord in order to function then surely the power cord is included in the box with the amp? Seriously...
B&W 802 Nautilus speakers
Assuming you have eliminated the amplifier and source, the most likely reason the speakers cut out is that the midrange and/or tweeter are blown. In this case the voice coil may be rubbing against the housing and they only get over the resistance ...

I have noticed that when people have no logical or persuasive point to make in support of their position then they just attack the others. I still have not seen a good argument as to why buying equipment that is highly sensitive to wire connection...

Your choice of the most "inert" cabinets ?
MDF is good and practical. Not sure that there is a best. Amusing to see proponents of inert cabinets also supportive of rigid metallic or ceramic drivers. Gee gosh golly - speaker cabinets need to be inert but I guess it is ok for the diaphragms ...

+1 Jafant way too much "junk-sourcing" from China these days - I had not heard that term but highly appropriate

Douglas,I don’t need to quote authority. The whole basis for design of equipment is to reproduce the source signal accurately. A filter is designed to modify the signal and runs entirely counter to the purist approach - it is a band aid best used ...

I don’t discount Doug’s findings but the whole concept of cables or interconnects being used to affect sound is wrong. Properly designed audio should minimize extraneous effects (wires between components).Amplifier manufacturers can design amps to...
Wilson Audio Haters
Ok back to Wilson. I like the Sasha’s a lot - not that they are the best speakers in the world but they are excellent hi-end speakers. They are are much better than B&W IMHO! Sasha’s have few faults whereas B&W make some big fundamental er...

Douglas, Darwin clearly has it mostly right. However there is more to it. I can’t explain here but in essence Darwin does explain much of what we see however there are surprising things we have only recently leaned about with viruses and DNA causi...
Think twice before concluding some thing sounds better
Don’t know about others but I spend a lot of time analyzing TV. I have had big disappointments with TVs when I got them home. I don’t trust at all what I see in a well lit store playing demo material suited to the TVs capability. LCD flat screens ...
I heard the $4000 Focal Utopia Headphones yesterday
Don't know if they are worth a try at $4000 but I have a pair of Shure SE846 IEM for $1500 and I have never heard anything even remotely as good in an IEM.  These IEM sound very close to the very best open back cans I have heard and have incredibl...

"Cables that measure the same sound different". You state this as if it were fact but it is merely an anecdotal claim. Unfortunately your claim is not enough to cause curriculum changes globally in Universities. If you can provide verification or ...

Geoffkait,I think frame11 was quoting the audio critic and the statement is entirely correct from an engineering design perspective. Go to any reputable University and study electrical engineering or physics and the professors and text books will ...

So Doug Sax of Mastering Lab fame used ordinary wire???? This is blasphemy.
