Turntable got absolutely crushed by CD

Turntable got absolutely crushed by CD
It is a Reference Recordings LP, RR-7, 45 RPM, "Professor Johnson's Astounding Sound Show"  All the tracks are excellent, the track I mentioned above is 3rd cut on Side 1.  I don't know if this was ever put on CD.  If so, I'd buy it!
Discovering I may have the cleanest AC power in USA
That is a good point.  What I have yet to sort out is how it deals with common mode noise and how it deals with the required diode to go along with that cap.   The diode is going to let almost a volt of noise through.   I'm curious how Paul solved...

@fleschler - Actually, that LP was recorded in stereo.  Very early stereo but indeed stereo.
A problem with AC Power you may not have considered.
That is good to know!  I wouldn't expect LA to approve it, given how picky they are.
Power JFETs
A unity gain power buffer!!  Yeah, they could sure work for that!As for the AB amplifier, remember Vacuum tubes are only N channel equivalents, there is no such thing as a P channel vacuum tubes!  It wouldn't be a complimentary symmetrical design ...

Either way, I don't see any AHJ issuing a permit for residential use of this equipment.   Yes, NEC 647.7(4) allows for use in restricted situations but as you pointed out a residential home does not qualify.  Gosh, I wonder if the audiophile owner...
Turntable got absolutely crushed by CD
An interesting discussion, I found the posts quite informative. I won't speculate on the particular setup or why one sounded better than the other did.   I will say no one can deny the LP has made a significant comeback. Clearly, it is not f...

I was looking at the noise harvester on PS's website.   They charge a capacitor from the noise voltage, which also requires a diode in the circuit somewhere as well.  When the SCR's gate voltage on the cap reaches the turn on limit, it fires and d...
Power JFETs
I did look at them.   Very interesting indeed but they are not linear enough for a Class AB amp.   They are designed for switching power supplies, so a Class D amp may have some applications.   They are not cheap, so they have to bring something o...
Power JFETs
Oh, heck yes!   I'll check them out.  A power JFET, now that is very interesting.   Some years back I read about a company that had patented a solid state tube.  It didn't have a heater but it did have a grid, plate, cathode, and a vacuum in which...

Update on Equi-Tech:  I found a more detailed description online about how it works.  Yes, the entire balanced line concept is a well known and well defined power distribution concept.   Envision how balanced interconnects work except this is for ...

I was at Home Depot last night and I picked up this unit for my home workstation.  For $40 it is a very good unit and well worth the cost.  https://www.homedepot.com/p/Commercial-Electric-12-Outlet-USB-RJ45-Coax-Surge-Protector-with-6-ft-Co... The...
Power JFETs
I think you mean MOSFETs. I don't believe I have ever seen a power JFET.  What is your application?  Switching PS/  Class D amps?  Linear?
Mystery of the whistling amplifier
I'd buy another set of tubes and try them.  If they don't fix it, no worries, tubes don't last forever.   This sounds like it will be a trial and error fix since a lot of things can cause this.   Cracked solder joints can do this, so a reflow of t...
