| Are There Any Good, High Power Solid State Amps? Long list of suggestions, yet no one knows what the OPs power requirements are based on his speakers' specifications or room size. | |
| Set up problem? OK. Then your problem is at the table, either with the cartridge, phono ICs or set-up.To rule out the phono ICs, switch them at both ends: the JD9 inputs and the table outputs. If the noise stays in the same channel, then the problem is with the c... | |
| Set up problem? I'm not clear. When you say you swapped the ICs at the Jolida, do you mean the Jolida JD9? When the noise changed from left to right, was it after you had swapped the ICs the the JD9's inputs from the turntable, or from the JD9's outputs to your l... | |
| Set up problem? Schipo's correct. Swapping the interconnects at the linestage will tell you if the problem is with the preamp or in front of it. If you swap the ICs and the problem still occurs in the same channels, then it may be a tube (or tubes). | |
| Are There Any Good, High Power Solid State Amps? It's impossible to suggest an amp without knowing the sensitivity of your speakers, the size of your room, and the decibel levels at which you normally listen.Class A is going to get you closer to what you are used to hearing with the tube amp. | |
| Set up problem? It's hard to say based on your description. It could be set-up. It could be a bad cartridge. It could be a problem with the phono preamp. It could be a problem with the interconnects. If you don't hear the same problem with other sources, I'd sugge... | |
| Does preamp w/Power Supply need a good Power Cord? Power cords have made a difference on the preamps I have owned with separate power supplies. In fact, I am auditioning a preamp with a separate power supply, and the designer purposely does not include a power cord because he believes the effects ... | |
| Why is some vinyl noisy? I recently bought a used three LP collection. The first two sides have most of the recognizable songs. All six sides appear flawless. However, it's obvious that in it's lifetime the collection's first two sides have received 90% of the playing tim... | |
| You're probably listening too loud Will folks define what they mean by critical listening? What exactly is everyone critiquing that causes so much fatigue? | |
| Totem Dreamcatcher vs. Arro Arros are fairly inexpensive on the used market. Why not "buy-and-try" a pair and compare them to your Dreamcatchers?Keep what you like and sell the others for little loss, if any. You're the best judge of what sounds best to you. | |
| Effects of Power Outages Where You Live I don't believe there's any dispute here about the generally accepted concept of leaving digital equipment powered up 24/7.The original post questions the amount of time a component is required to be powered up to sound optimal after it has been p... | |
| Researching the CD/HDCD Players from China I spent about 10 minutes yesterday in a local hardware store deciding whether to purchase microfiber towels made in Pakistan or China.Never thought that'd happen. | |
| Glass Shelf under CD Player or not? I use different isolation and coupling devices in my system, but I find truth in J_goughnour's comment. The best way to determine the answer is to listen with and without the glass (and with and without the Vibrapods). Your opinion is the only one... | |
| tube amp advice At the $1200 price point, and with speakers that require at least 100wpc, I believe Viridian has given you some good suggestions. | |
| Why is some vinyl noisy? I'm always amazed when I play stuff that even after cleaning looks bad but plays breat. I have some that look perfect but play like s**t. You never know until you play em'. Analogphil (System | Threads | Answers)Exactly. This is the minefield that ... |
