Rich; organic true balanced amp w good detail $6k
I have not heard the Lamm amps in direct comparison with the Belles, but I would expect the Lamm amps to sound better...they ought to at more than three times the price. Please note I was referring to the Lamm hybrid design, and not the Lamm SET a...

Sutts, the Belles 150A Reference and 350A Reference amplifiers only work as monoblocks when their balanced XLR inputs are utilized. I assume this means they are fully balanced in this configuration, but I could be wrong. I don't know the differenc...

The Belles M200 monos are getting lots of positive buzz. However, they are single ended only.I mention it because the OP requested fully balanced as a prerequisite.

$6k (or less) will buy a pair of Belles 150A Reference or 350A Reference monoblocks. In my system, they have the characteristics you mention. I sold VAC 160 Musicblocs in favor of the Belles 150A Reference amps.Associated gear is: Atma-Sphere MP-1...
performance vs. resale
No intention to call you on it, Timrhu. Just was interested in an explanation of what you meant, and you answered it perfectly with your mention of price relative to your desire to own tube components.Thanks.
performance vs. resale
I'm not sure by what criteria Timrhu determines that tube gear is overpriced. Relative to what? The market decides correct pricing. If a used tube amplifier "X" commonly sells for $"Y", then $"Y" is the correct price, and it's neither overpriced no...
performance vs. resale
I tend to lean toward Pawlowski6132's sentiments, although I haven't always followed the advice.Several times in my own enthusiasm I have overestimated the demand of a component only to later take a significant loss.I try very hard to limit these ...
Why LCD and Plasma? 37
Widescreen HD TVs satisfy an increasingly large viewership who don't watch SD programming or who don't care that upconverted SD programming on HD sets does not look as good as SD programming on a SD set. I am not a member of that viewership, yet I...
Why LCD and Plasma? 37
Stretch mode creates unnatural and skewed proportions. I don't care for it.My viewing standard requires programming to be viewed in it's native aspect ratio, and that it look as good as or better than a standard off-air, antenna-based analog picture.
Why LCD and Plasma? 37
I heard in 1997 that the original mandate was for complete digital switchover by 2006. You can see how that turned out. :)Jmcgrogan2 (Threads | Answers)Nothing's for certain, that's for certain. ;)Fortunately, I really enjoy my Sony CRT display.
Why LCD and Plasma? 37
As long as there is any original broadcast content in standard definition 4:3 aspect, I will keep my 32" CRT. Only when all broadcast content is in widescreen or letterbox, will I seriously consider changing to a flat panel display.I suspect this ...
Why LCD and Plasma? 37
Tvad, I will be in the market for a new plasma. In what way does the 4:3 standard def look like crap?Fatparrot (Threads | Answers)Typically, they are blotchy and terribly pixilated.

Thanks, Reubent. It stands to reason that your Panasonic EDTV has a better SD picture as it is not a high definition TV, but rather an enhanced standard definition set.
Why LCD and Plasma? 37
I have yet to see a high definition LCD or Plasma TV displaying a standard definition 4:3 aspect ratio signal that didn't look like crap. Do any exist?
Computer music server PC or Apple????
One barrier I've had to a Mac server system is the necessity of a keyboard and monitor to change music. Signal is software that turns the iPhone into a remote control for iTunes. It seems to be the solution to freeing one from a keyboard and monit...
