Frequency/Channel imbalance. Help
Have you checked the cartridge's azimuth to be certain it's perpendicular? The mirror method works well for this.My L/R balance is always slightly "off". I compensate either by adjusting the left or right gain controls on my phono preamp, or the b...
System Resolving Enough?
I'm wondering what the consensous is as to weather or not my setup is resolving enough to exploit the subtle differences (audio & video)between the Marantz DV7001 & NAD T585 that I've narrowed it down to?Freediver (Threads | Answers)I'd sa...

Posting here is like talking to a room full of drunks, everyone knows more then the next guy and nothing gets accomplished. It always turns into an arguement and the original post gets lost in the shuffle.Chadnliz (System | Threads | Answers)Just ...
Suggestion for an entry-level turntable
the SOTA has a suspension so if you are not on a concrete floor or atleast a super immune shelf the VPI may not be ideal as it has no suspension and the SOTA will be fine.Chadnliz (System | Threads | Answers)I have wood floors on a raised foundati...

06-16-07: KennytIf I am not mistaken, and I might be, but I beleive runnng speaker wires under carpet is a code violation. Anyone sure of this??What would be the reason for a code prohibiting this? There isn't enough current running through speake...
Best CHEAP long under-carpet speaker cable
I'd suggest contacting a local home theater installation company. They routinely use flat cabling that can be purchased in bulk, and that does not receive "audiophile" buzz.
Why are there no high end cheater plugs?
06-15-07: Cytocycleif you are going to all that trouble, why not unground the outlet and then the third prong doesn't do anything and you don't have to use a cheater....Because for a proper audio grounding scheme, the preamp needs to be grounded w...
Why are there no high end cheater plugs?
What's involved in making an audiophile cheater plug? Better brass? Silver? Rhodium plating?I just put some contact paste (choose your favorite) on the blades of the cheater plug and blades of the power cord and let it go.
Soft squishy feet
06-13-07: Jc51373Ok, so the sorbothane under everything is a no go...I don't know if I can completely describe what it did. Everything felt darker, too dark. Voices sounded more distant, and the sound stage definitely shrank some. Every isolation ...
Help me buy a magical pre-amp that doesn't exist
It would appear only one person has experience with just one of the preamps on your list. You might expand your inquiry to AudioCircle.com or AudioAsylum.com.Or, you might consider some of the alternatives mentioned.Good luck!
Recommended first turntable?
06-14-07: Ledhed2222Good look Tvad, unfortunately someone bought it before I saw your post! How much you want to bet it was someone who read this thread?Anyway, the point was made. The price of that particular table was not an anomaly, and it's a f...

Wood v. Metal for stands. Is there a clear winner?
Either a wood or metal rack will require additional vibration treatment to realize clear benefits. Cones, rollerblocks, sorbothane...name it.
Bass Drivers - Quickest / Best Way to Break In?
I re-read my previous post and it requires some revision. Sorry, Mark....try swapping the L&R interconnects from your preamp to the Dodds to flip-flop the channels (in other words leave the ICs connected correctly at the preamp, but plug the l...
