Bass Drivers - Quickest / Best Way to Break In?
That just reminded me....I used to run off the 4ohm taps on the Dodds, now they are on the 8ohm...hmmmm, could that kill my lowest two octaves?1markr (System | Threads | Answers)No.Mark, try the Andras one at a time before you do anything else. Be...
Bass Drivers - Quickest / Best Way to Break In?
I'd suggest checking them out individually. It doesn't make logical sense that both speakers would display the same anomaly if the problem was with a driver, drivers or crossover. If they both respond the same during the individual troubleshooting,...
Bass Drivers - Quickest / Best Way to Break In?
Mark, I can't tell from your response, "I did look at both speakers", whether they were both operating simultaneously when you looked at them, or if you looked at them with only one or the other operational at a time.Have you listened and tested j...
Bass Drivers - Quickest / Best Way to Break In?
Yup. Sounds like you're not getting a signal somewhere around 63Hz or above...or there's a hole in the signal. Have you tested just one speaker at a time? A crossover or driver problem would likely only occur in one speaker or the other. If they'r...
Bass Drivers - Quickest / Best Way to Break In?
I have bearly any audible response below 50Hz; the response drops 15 to 20dB from reference (80dB) very quickly after 63Hz. That sounds like a problem with the drivers, or the crossovers, or something else in your system rather than a break-in issue.
Sonus Faber , Should the Tweeter be in or out ?
You could try both and see what you like best. That may be a more "correct" answer than what the manufacturer would say regardless.Aball (System | Reviews | Threads | Answers)I'm with Aball. Try it both ways and decide for yourself.Often, orientin...
Vandersteen 5a or Eggleston Andra II
You can always add a subwoofer (or subwoofers), but you can't change a tweeter without changing the tonality of the speaker.I'd buy the speaker that possesses the tonality you prefer.
Phono stage with gain control?
Dean_fuller...If your pickup yields sufficient volume when the power amp is fed directly from the phono stage there is no need for extra gain, which you will just "throw away" using the volume control pot.Eldartford (Reviews | Threads | Answers)Wh...
Phono stage with gain control?
Mingles, I cannot offer a quality comparison because I used the two phono pres only a short time with the same table/cart, but overall, I can say the Lehmann was a strong performer. I'd not hesitate to own another. The Lehmann was quieter. The Wri...
Best Neil Young "Harvest" CD version?
The war's officially over. Both SACD and DVD-A lost. I prefer DVD-A to SACD, especially on rock and jazz recordings. In fact, given a choice of "Harvest" on HDCD or XRCD or SACD, I'd choose either HDCD or XCRD over SACD. BTW, I have no idea if "Ha...
Power: Good or Bad
For vocals and acoustic instruments, go with a SET amp and high sensitivity/high impedance loudspeakers. I can't imagine there will be much disagreement with this suggestion. On the other hand, a good friend recently purchased some George Wright Si...
Phono stage with gain control?
Ed_sawyer, I read that the WPP100C was inherently noisy due to the tubes used, which prompted the design of the quieter WPP200C. Never heard both. I own the WPP200C, and it's fine for my purposes.I suppose a call to George would provide the defini...
Integrated amp with phone and headphone jack?
McIntosh MA6300, MA6500, MA6900 and MC2275 all have headphone jacks and MM phono inputs.
Pat Metheny Fans, Great Suggestions Please ??
Put me down for "American Garage", "Offramp", and "Travels" in that order.
Power: Good or Bad
Most SET amp owners will tell you they sound more pure and closer to the music, and SET amps certainly have less parts/engineering.SET amps aside, however, I don't believe you can assume that low power in a push-pull design translates to more natu...
