Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Kristian85, putting aside the issue of the Audio Control C-101 (I sold it five years ago after owning it for two months), did you thoroughly read Almarg's post wherein he stated that frequency response cannot be accurately measured with the tools ...
Cart not parallel after Mint LP alignment?
I found after setting up my cart on the Technics tonearm with the MintLP that the sound was clear and free of distortion. The difference was not subtle.Sometimes people complain of "brightness" with turntables, when in fact what they're complainin...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Try the old test of listening normally and with hands cupped behind the ears to see how much difference can be heard in response to a small change.Mapman (System | Reviews | Threads | Answers)I much prefer the ear-cupped sound. Someone should make...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Al, what you describe seems to me to be an argument against the goal of a system that measures flat in-room since the measuring is inaccurate, unless there's some measurement device that avoids or compensates for reflected sound. Otherwise, the me...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
a setup that produces measured flat frequency response at the listening position is wrong "a priori."Best regards,-- AlAlmarg (Answers)By *set up* are you referring specifically to the EQ I used, or by *set up* are you including any system that me...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Mapman, I understand your comment, however my point was (I think) slightly different.Kristian81 has commented that he was buoyed by the fairly flat in-room response of the Ohm loudspeakers. Even an ideally mated loudspeaker and amplifier may not p...
If money were no object, what would be in your rig
Thanks for crushing my dreams Tvad.......I might as well go ahead and sell all of this crap now.....Jmcgrogan2 (Reviews | Threads | Answers)Yup.Sell it all and buy shoes. Dozens and dozens of pairs of women's designer shoes. Put 'em on shelves in ...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
I remember one time using an Audio Control C-101 equalizer to EQ my system's room response so it measured flat. The Audio Control unit came with a microphone and automatic EQ software to enable this to be done. The funny thing is the results absolu...

I'd drop that huge MBL system right in place of my current one. The girls clothes would fly right off when they walked in the room. Ejlif (System | Threads | Answers)You think so?I think that's an audiophile's fantasy that has absolutely no basis ...

Ditto bigger room. Bigger, dedicated, fully treated. Then, CAR T1.3 loudspeakers.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
04-20-10: Kristian85This thread...emphasizes perfectly how audiophiles are nearly unable to seperate better from different sound. Note the OP's initial OTT excitement over the MWTs, as followed by the rollercoaster ride that was the ensuing months...

Kristian85 hit the mark, IMO. Perceptive and succinct.
Dream system - but no aftermarket power cords
I agree with Trpreaves. The *substantial* noise from your speakers may originate somewhere in the system that can be addressed without the need for a power conditioner and upmarket power cords. Describe the noise. Is it hiss? Is it hum? Is it crac...
Pass amps + Power Cords ??
...btw, despite my position on the benefits of power cords, I stand by my earlier statement in this thread that the Pass Labs amplifiers I owned were fairly impervious to power cord swaps...unlike other amplifiers I have owned.
Pass amps + Power Cords ??
Macdadtexas, you're reading more into what I wrote than is required. I wrote nothing of discerning taste, nor did I suggest that he should have a crappier system. I think it's valid to suggest that there may be other aspects of his system's sound ...
