Burson Buffers?
...an addendum to my prior post. In order for the Goldpoint attenuator to work properly with the Aleph 2 amps (utilizing their 10k ohm input impedance), the Goldpoint's attenuator value would have to be 10K ohm or lower. The stock configuration fo...
Burson Buffers?
OK, post the rest when you know it.The Aleph 2's single ended input impedance is 10k ohms. Pretty low.
Burson Buffers?
Face, what was the stepped attenuator value of the Goldpoint, i.e. 5K, 10K, 20K, 25K, 50K, 100K, etc., and what was the model of the Pass amplifier? Also, were the amplifier's RCA or balanced inputs used?
Slagle AVC Modules & Lightspeed Attenuator
Can we agree that with the right combination between source amp an ICs, that no buffering is needed, and if not needed for impedance matching no buffer is better than having one. In other words, no buffer is optimal, but a buffer is much more flex...
Burson Buffers?
The 840C User Manual shows an output impedance of less than 50 ohms. This is quite low, and will provide an excellent impedance match even with passive preamps.I'm doubtful that a Burson Buffer would have any audible effect. However, if you access...
Burson Buffers?
The answer has everything to do with the output impedance of your 840C and the input impedance of your preamp (or integrated amp, or receiver). If there is no impedance mismatch, then the Burson Buffer will not provide any improvement in sound.

...addendum to the above.I owned Pass Labs XA-60.5 amplifiers and mated them with the SMc Audio VRE-1. Exceptional results, IMO.

Those who are considering the $18,000 Concert Fidelity CF-080 might also consider the US made SMc Audio VRE-1, which is also a "passive with balls" ($14,950).

Tvad, Perhaps having a circle of friends whose ears you trust may mean you know their predilections.Perhaps a group who listen for different aspects can actually over time bring out the whole system better than any one individual.Uru975 (Threads |...

It would seem it is your preference that they do not project their preference. Rrog (Answers)I'm not going to play, but nice try.

I say take a pat on the back when you can. Ohlala (Reviews | Threads | Answers)Ohlala, I imagine many of us can take a pat on the back. Sometimes it takes a fresh set of ears to help us realize our achievement.

Yikes. I really needed to edit the post above. Sorry for the confusing syntax.
ICE Amps for classical music?
Audiofeil made a perfectly cogent point differentiating preference from dogma, IMO.
