| Bryston 4BSST - to much power for Studio 60v2's ? Have you ever seen such a unanimous response for any equipment discussed on Audiogon? Why are you waiting? Buy those Brystons! | |
| Bryston 4BSST - to much power for Studio 60v2's ? I have owned the combo you are considering and believe they offer tremendous value. Having too much clean power is always better than not having enough...and it helps assuage the amplifier upgrade bug when the time comes to buy larger speakers. I'... | |
| von Schweikert VR-4 vs Vandersteen 5A Sure the Vandy's are nice, but don't you really want the $50K Nearfield Pipedreams? The point being, where does one stop on the never ending quest for the best? It's unattainable for most of us. So, find something really nice in a comfortable pric... | |
| What speaker for Bryston 14B-SST? My Von Schweikert VR4 SE's seem to really, really like the Bryston 14B SST, however I haven't tried them with any other amp so I have no comparison to offer. | |
| Are Von Schweikert VR-2s worth auditioning? Thanks for your post, Joyelyse. I have a similar issue with my VR4 SE's...the missing "floating ball of sound". Keep us updated with what Albert suggests. | |
| Best SACD for under $1200 You can probably pick up a used Sony 999ES and have Dan Wright do the Signature Tube mod for a total of $1300-$1400. I owned the first 999ES Dan modded and it was stunning. | |
| Bryston BP-25 vs. Plinius CD-LAD I use a Bryston BP25 and First Sound Deluxe II, which is a new addition. The Bryston is the more flexible of the two for reasons already mentioned above plus remote, balanced inputs/outputs, and a bypassable tape loop (which I found invaluable for... | |
| Are Von Schweikert VR-2s worth auditioning? Joyelyse, please let us know the placement of your VR2's when you post your review. I've read room placement is critical for these speakers (specifically distance from rear wall and toe-in angle). | |
| Are Von Schweikert VR-2s worth auditioning? Having owned Aerial 7B's, and with due respect for Sedona's opinion of them, I'd go with the Von Schweikert's. The VS's have a sweetness in the treble that the Aerial's do not. I found the Aerial's to be a tad strident and lacking in bass. I now o... | |
| Your Experience with Bryston 7BSST..... I recently swapped in a First Sound Presence Deluxe II preamp instead of my BP25 for use with a Bryston 14B SST. The result has been a terrific smoothing of the highs while maintaining the clarity and neutrality of the BP25. Highly recommended. | |
| Your Holiday/Christmas Favorite Recordings Ljgj - I felt the same about "I Believe in Father Christmas" and I still think it's a great song. But, once I really listened to the lyrics, I realized it's more an anti-Christmas song, certainly bashing commercialism, but perhaps even running dee... | |
| Soliloquy or Von Schweikert VR-1 VR1's are designed to be placed close to a rear wall. This may beneficial to your room considerations. Also, you can add VS subs later to fill out the bass. Check out the VR1 review at Soundstage.com, or on the Von Schweikert website. | |
| Help me to tame brightness Try adjusting the toe-in/toe-out angle of your speakers. Mas Black interconnects or Harmonic Technology Truthlink interconnects will be improvements over the Signal Cable. Also, off topic, Dan Wright's Signature Tube Mod will transform your Sony 9... | |
| SACD 2 channel vs Redbook 2 Channel Tell it, Little Milton! | |
| Album which you have listened to most? Genesis "Seconds Out", Dire Straits "Love Over Gold", Neil Young "Harvest Moon". The Genesis album is like comfort food. "Love Over Gold" and "Harvest Moon" are works of art. |
