Trans-rotor Lenardo - Anyone give a listen?
There is a member here, who's moniker I can't remember, who emailed me once, that has a Transrotor Leonardo and also bought a Teres 245. He said that once he heard the Teres 245, he put the Leonardo in his 2nd system, as it could not compare sonic...
What do you think about this cable company?
Sounds like you oughtta buy another brand of cable, to me. There are alot of cables out there that sound good, and that are competing for your money. If that company doesn't want your business, then another one surely will.
Black glass KenRad 6SN7s take the cake
Give me the Sylvania 1940s 6SN7 WGT any day. IMO the best there is. If you really want to hear what a 6SN7 can do, just listen to it as an output triode in a Berning Micro ZOTL, driving a pair of Lowthers direct. This is where you really hear the ...
Review: Conrad Johnson PV-9 Tube preamp
I really enjoyed the details in your description, and had a good time reading this review. I'm glad you're happy with your fine system.
resistors in series/parallel questions...
You can use whatever combination you want to acheive the value you want. The fewer the better, because the soldered joints can be problematic for sound. You don't have to get exactly 47k, because it is not that critical. 1/4 watt is fine for this....
Which amp to drive Totem Signiture ones?
It sounds to me like there may be a couple of issues at play here. I looked up your product specs on the web, and the Totems are nominally 4 ohm speakers. It is possible that they may have some serious dips at some frequencies. Given that the Kora...
Need an advice about phono cable. RCA-RCA
It sounds to me like there is something more than just cables being wrong. Have you set the VTA correctly? Is the cartridge loaded properly at the phono section? Is the cartridge worn out or something? The Well Tempered Classic should be sounding ...
Need help - Set up Helikon using test LP
Jackcob, the 12.5 has more mass and superior geometry over the 10.5, so it should be a better tracker. The reason that these Helikon owners are having problems, is that the Helikon is really too stiff in the compliance department for these unipivo...
How much fluid do you use
I don't know about the drops of fluid, but I can identify exactly with your move back to vinyl. I sold my several thousand LP collection 10 years ago(ouch), and said that I would not get back into vinyl, just like you did. I stayed out of audio fo...
Good turntable equipped for about 700 dollars?
The Linn is a very musical table, and that is the best way to describe it. There isn't any one particular "audiophile" category that jumps out, with the exception of PRaT. It excels at PRaT. The resolution is very good, but not great. There is a s...
What output is higher...?
Marakanetz, I think a Dynavector 10x4 Mk 2 would do fine on that arm. The Dynavector is not too heavy, has a compliance of 15cu and an output of 2.5mv. It should match up very well with that unipivot.
Good turntable equipped for about 700 dollars?
Peter, in your price range you want to look for the LP12 with Valhalla. You can tell this by looking at the Power on/off switch at the front left of the TT. The older non-Valhalla models had a large red square pushbutton. The Valhalla changed that...
VPI JMW 10.5 damping oil question
If the paddle doesn't touch the silicone fluid, then how in the world would the damping work? Come on guys, think about it.
Phono Section Break-In CD ??
This may be considered old-fashioned, but how about just playing records through it? I've always done that, and it has worked just fine for me. Personally, I like to hear the gear burn-in.
Good turntable equipped for about 700 dollars?
I agree with what SWKlein says above. A Linn LP12/Valhalla with a Basik Plus arm is in your price range and the best sounding set up for that amount of money. It will bury a Rega, MMT-7, or VPI Jr. The Audio Note mentioned above is a good table, a...
