$2500 is plenty of $$$ and you can get great bass too!!! used speakers are a bargain esp if you research them here and elsewhere. don't overlook a subwoofer too. some people equate overspending for improved sound, it is why people buy rolls royce ...

want to build a 2 channel system where do i start
for starters, just because you can spend 20K is no reason to feel like you will not be satisfied with a less $ set up. listen to more modest systems at any number of dealers. classical rock recordings in original formats are generally not that wel...
New B&W
consider that even doing an a/b comparison in same room with all things equal, the room itself will perform differently with each speaker. no 2 spaces are exactly the same acoustically. not to mention the complete subjectivity involved in the list...
New B&W
having owned less $$$ b@w's over the years this is interesting. the idea that one needs a 500 wpc amp to drive a speaker in a home stereo is hard to fathom. that's a heck of a spkr design if this is true. i guess i should have gone into oil future...

Spilled marinara sauce on wood speaker....
the sauce all over idea is good but i don't have enough left and it is so good i cant bear to waste any more of it on stereo gear. also , to danlib1, i used my herbs in the sauce so i cannot go that route. I'd like to use an organic or holistic ap...

What If?
how 'bout a nice pair of single driver spkrs that are highly effecient. many fine choices out there. it would be a good match with tubes and offer a unique contrast to horns. plus, many have thin tower design and would take up small space when not...
Subwoofer Advice For Stereo Music System, Not HT
you have the right idea re sub addition. fwiw, i use the same spkr outs to run to my MK powered sub which has all the controls built into it. i run a thinner gauge wire from the binding posts from a different position on the 5 way posts to the sub...
need help -- budget system for a friend....
NAD nod is good, i would spend at least $400 on spks tho...used. imo, spks are more critical than amps at this price range . avoid low sensitivity models that suck power. fwiw, dont blow big bucks on spk cables, DIY with monster cables and connect...
