Budget Linear track table?
Garrard Zero 100. Quite interesting, it uses a pivoted, pantograph arm rather than a linear tracker to maintain tangency to the record. You can see a similar, though higher-end, execution of this principal in Mike Fremer's column in this months St...
glam rock fans?
I used to listen to the Dolls upstairs at Max's Kansas City, in New York. Michael J. Pollard was usually at the bar downstairs holding court with a bevy of N.Y. models and transvestites. Ahhh, the good old days.
audiophiles or retrophiles
I personally just think that it really takes a long time for a new technology to mature to the point that it is sonically competitve with older, more mature, technologies. Ten years ago, I did not own a CD player and ran out of the room when I hea...
Beveridge speakers-does anyone still use them?
Bob, now you know that the most beautiful music on earth is the sound of your daughter. Congrats, and all the best.Marty
The most emotional amp out there?
Jtinn, please read my post carefully, I did not say that service was not currently available on Tenor amps. To quote you directly from another Audiogon post, "For all those who would like service on their amplifiers, be patient and Tenor's service...
The most emotional amp out there?
Tenor may not make the most emotional amps, but they make the most emotional owners. Imagine, not being able to get service on your five figure investment. Brings tears to my eyes.
Tired of my crappy remote. Any suggestions?
Oh, I didn't mean that he should get a wife to change the channels on the TV. That would be repugnant and certainly not P.C. I had a more lacivious past time in mind that would distract him from his electronic conundrum.
Old Janszen E-stats sound very good
These are just great stats. Infinity used the modules in the Servo Static and 2000A speakers as well.
help, magnepan tonearm ,does anybody know.
Ahhh....the Unitrack 1, unipivot. It works best with fairly high compliance MM cartridges. Think Shure, Audio-Technica and Ortofon. It is just OK sonically, and has been bettered by many modern arms.

Get a wife.
Should this forum have a warning label?
Jeff, the only warning should urge potential posters to search the archives for answers to specific questions before posting. The forums are being choked by a merry-go-round of repeated questions, many answered five, six or more times in past post...
Too much bass
El, although an earlier Stereophile review found the standard 2 series speaker to have a sensitivity of 82db, the Signature version had a measured sensitivity of 84db. The link is as follows: http://stereophile.com/loudspeakerreviews/284/index7.ht...
Too much bass
I would respectfully disagree with the above. The last Stereophile review found the Vandys to be 82db sensitive, four db below spec. This is way inefficient. But I don't think that this is the problem, though I don't see the reason for this in a m...
Beveridge speakers-does anyone still use them?
I have seen serveral pairs of the 2+2Ws for sale, as well as the 3s. Additionally, the Koss electrostats, models 1 and 2 show up from time to time as well as the Dayton Wright XG-8 series, which require a little more commitment as they need to be ...
Tuner Information Center...gospel?
Isn't that like the green oxidation on brass, like rot? Yeah, that's what my system is more akin to.
