| What is the life of a Grado Wood cartridge? I would respectfully disagree with the above. The Grado should not have an appreciably different life than other cartridges. We have been aroung this tree many times, here is just the most recent thread. http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?ean... | |
| $500 tables: Project or Musichall Neither, the Goldring, available from Music Direct, is a rebadged Rega Planar 2, with the excellent RB250 arm and Goldring cartridge, you will have some money left over in your budget for a better cartridge or some LPs. | |
| Music Hall CD-25 or original Rega Planet? L, small world, after surfing through a lot of inexpensive, and moderately priced interconnects, I settled on the Alpha-Core Micro Purl Copper for my original Planet. I want to give the TQ-2 a try though.Marty | |
| Music Hall CD-25 or original Rega Planet? Bob, thanks so much! You have really put the sonic qualities of these players into sharp relief for me as well as helping to fill out my short list of players to audition. Thanks to you and Joe for the great guidance; this is what the hobby is all... | |
| Is it me? Comments on the Rega Mira integrated. In a comparable price range I rather like the Roksan Kandy 3, though it's not much to look at. If you can afford a bit more scratch, the Primare integrateds sound just fabulous they can sometimes be found for under 1K and would be my first choice.... | |
| What is your latest "rediscovery"? I just discovered the Lindberg baby in the bottom of one of my Klipshorns; I guess Bruno Hauptman didn't do it. | |
| Is it me? Comments on the Rega Mira integrated. Some distinctions need to be drawn here. The original Mira, with the cast wavy case, similar to the original Planet, was a bit bright and brash with good slam and pace. The Luna, mentioned above is similar. The second Mira, often incorrectly refer... | |
| Paradigm Studio v2 VS. Vandersteen 2Ce Signature ? Just to throw one in from the other side of the tracks, I really do not care for the 2CE Signatures, to me they are just too thick and round, though I can certainly hear their many fine strengths. Though I have not heard the 60s, I have spent some... | |
| Pink Floyd reunion Rick Wright has really been overlooked in the wake of the Waters/Barrett/Gilmour legacy. He is a most subtle, elegant and thoughtful musician. Floyd was really a complete band with, in the best of moments, all players playing as one. We'll see if ... | |
| Music Hall CD-25 or original Rega Planet? Joe, thanks so much for the thoughtful and reasoned guidance. I checked the archives before posting and did have an opportunity to peruse your previous, glowing, posts. I may take a shot at it, after all. The Music Hall sounds just like me, lackin... | |
| Music Hall CD-25 or original Rega Planet? Larry, sounds like the trade would be a backward one, or horizontal, at best. Thanks for the info and guidance.Marty | |
| Audiophile book of "Common Sense" It would be the thinnest book on the shelf. | |
| What numbers are important in SS amps specs Maybe we should just trade in all of our junk for the DK Designs SR-1 Mark Whatever Signature and put everyone on an even playing field, at least until the new model comes out next week. | |
| What numbers are important in SS amps specs VPI bricks? | |
| What numbers are important in SS amps specs I would posit that the weight of the amp divided by the output power in watts, higher being better, comes closest, though still not close, to determining the sound quality of an amp. Seems that pounds per watt is as good as any other guage. |
