Best wires for cost
I agree with the above suggestions....for the used price, Straightwire Rhapsody II are very easy to listen to...still with good detail and soundstage.
"Burn in" Are you serious?
Check out the thread...burn in Vs. getting used to a sound.
DO AUDIOPHILES EVER LISTEN TO MUSIC?
John_1.......I now understand all the "Dear John" letters.. ...best of luck during your recovery.
Audio Research transistor gear vs. tubes
Thanks for your thoughts so far. I have had much tube and transistor gear..from many companies...and I am not trying to imply that ARC transistor gear is better than the tube gear...or to even compare them. It seems that the ARC transistor gear is...
DO AUDIOPHILES EVER LISTEN TO MUSIC?
Nat sang it...but Mel wrote it. And us "Audiophiles" do listen. Just because a person works and works at their garden...does not mean they enjoy the fruit and veggies any less...in fact I would guess more..than the gardener that has a messy garden...
Audio Research transistor gear vs. tubes
Sorry to follow-up my own post...but I forgot to mention the CD-2..as an example. This CD player is holding an amazing % of it's retail price on the used market compared to almost all other used players....and it is transistor. How can, or why do,...
MISSING THE POINT?
Ben, another thought on music, much like other things in life, not everyone is looking for the same thing. Some seek peace and relaxation in music....while others are looking for something more exciting or an exploration/expansion of their knowled...
Hidden Audiophile Classics
If you can find the original LP by Valerie Carter of "Wild Child"....what a voice...and about as seductive, without that being the goal, as any female vocal I have ever heard.
MISSING THE POINT?
Ben, I think one of major concerns with any newly released material...other than personal taste, is the sonic quality of the recording. Last years multi-grammy winning Santana CD is a good case..of a very bad sounding "new release". I am afraid th...
SACD - Another year and ...
I am going to play hardball here...I know some of the guys that design and build the current high-end cd players disagree....but I think op-amps...read: big IC's...suck. I am sorry...I don't usually use words like that in a post. But I am tired of...

Gthirteen,...am I to assume that you, like I, consider being a Ferrari test driver...to be the best job on the planet? ...As far as actual jobs...that would be my choice....however, being a good dad..is my number 1 vocation.
Tube amp with Maggi 1.6?
Many think that Magnepans need much current and wattage.. perhaps. I have used the MG-20, 1.6 and 3.6 with everything from 400 watt per channel solid state to 30 watt per channel tube (VAC Ren 30/30). If you listen to decent music at reasonable vo...

To all above, I am a small retailer..and don't have a printed brochure on all I carry. I do have lit. on individual pieces that I would be happy to supply...just e-mail your address. Also, if you plug Herman Miller..or Eames or Hans Wegner or anyt...
Your Listening chair
Gthirteen, I have tried the Barcelona and it is better to look at than sit in....but very attractive. The Wassily chair by Marcel Breuer is actually a better sit. For less money the old Siesta Chair by Westnofa...from Norway is very good, as are s...
Your Listening chair
Actually my post from above is how I make a living. I have owned a high-end modern furniture store for over 20 years.. and had been involved in electronics and high-end audio prior to that...and so...I have been very into..the right chair(s) to us...
