"I've been using the gold/silver contact paste recently and don't want to disconnect anything cause you have to clean/reapply/re-breakin everything, one of the disadvantages of using the silver bearing contact enhancers."

Oh come on, can't you just lick the ends of the cables and stick 'em back in?!? Works with tubes (hee hee)
Any further activity in the Baltimore area? I'd be interested in getting together with agoners in the area as I get back on the merry go round!!

So, did you guys get together? If so, what did you listen to/talk about? I should be available this weekend if we want to try again. Unfortunately my personal budget just got a big hit, so my upgrade path is going to be a l-o-n-g one. :(

Hi Guys. Any more talk of a November get together? I am about to pull the trigger on a McCormack DNA-225 (used) and a Bel Canto Pre2P (new from Underwood Wally.) If these are bad moves, TELL ME NOW! (jes' kiddin) ;)

MikeB.
Happy Holidaze Bawlmore! Can we start thinking about a get together? Fortunately in the last two months, I have upgraded to the point I'm not embarrassed to host a meeting. My system now consists of a Music Hall CD25.2 with Underwood Level 1+ mods (bought new) and the following stock pieces picked up used from Agon: Bel Canto Pre2P, McCormack DNA-225, Von Schweikert VR 4jrs (properly loaded with 50lbs of lead shot in each.) Also have an old Technics TT with an unknown cartridge, but it doesn't sound too bad. Oh yeah, for Christmas, Santa (yours truly) also brought Signal cable power cords for cdp, pre and power amps and Silver Resolution interconnects between cdp and pre; and pre and power amps. And two dedicated 20 amp circuits to go with one almost dedicated one. All are wearing Porter Ports.

Unfortunately, speaker cable is still 20-year old Monster cable multistrand copper, so that is the next upgrade. Maybe someone (Bob, how about your Satori's!) will bring a pair over for some comparisons. Also, since I sort of integrated the 2-channel system with my home theater, the run from the amp to my left speaker is about 18 feet. I can pull the components out of their cabinets for some cable swapping.

So, once the holiday hussle and bustle is over, who's game?

I was also thinking it's time to get together again. Paul, Bob, Mike's, RU ready?!?

I could host (Carroll County.) I would be interested in comments on the sound/set up of my system. My next upgrade should be room set up/acoustics, but I would also like to "audition" different inerconnects and speaker cables (biwire.)

Waddya say guys?

MikeB
I'm coming and per Sang's and other's requests will bring a bunch of speaker cables and most likely my room measurement HW and SW, although I haven't used it much and not in a while. I'd rather not spend too much time on engineering but more on some cable/equipment "difference appreciations" (more commonly known as evaluation), meeting some fellow audiofools and hearing new music/systems.

Mike
I'm in. I don't know that meeting at a "shop" will go over well with the owner, however I'm basing this on a conversation I had with the local Von Schweikert dealer (Stansbury in Millersville.) He knows we may be just kicking the tires before buying used on A'gon! Besides, it'a always cool to see how PEOPLE have assembled their systems.

Since we have several hosting volunteers, we can met on Jan. 13th, then maybe again in February. I'm looking at a speaker upgrade, so my place (Carroll County) may be one for February.

Sang, Joe, Paul and Bob, etc. this is shaping up nicely. For my 2 cents, I'm currently going through speaker cable selection hell ;) and would want to do some swapping to get a feel for the personalities of what we can compare. Obviously the rest of the system will have a great impact, but we should be able to come up relative merits of each. Ones I have (or will have by the 13th) are Audioquest Bedrock (12' biwire) Speltz anti-cable (8' single wire), home made Home Depot 10 gauge solid copper shotgun (biwire) and coming soon, Wireworld Equinox 5 (biwire 3 meter.)

I also have some acoustic measurement software on a laptop. I know Paul has TrueRTA. I did splurge on RplusD (sequel to ETF by Acoustisoft.)

I can also bring vinyl, CDs and beverages.

Thanks Sang!
Sang, OK, I'll bring the room measurement gear. Like Paul said, if you think it sounds funny, you won't want to "see" how it looks! But we can play around with finding listening sweet spots and possibly adjusting speaker positioning. The solution just may be for you to buy my Von Schweikert VR-4JRs! (Now Bob is gonna wonder what I'm listening to...)

Mike
Yes, thanks Sang, your hospitality was wonderful, as was the sound and music. I'll host in February. How about the 17th or 24th?

Mike
Congrats gents, we are now in second place on the number of posts for Audio Clubs surpassing Cleveland (Cleveland rocks?!?)

IMHO, posting on this thread works for me, although I have joined the Yahoo Group Paul set up so I don't miss anything. We can make this as formal as most of us want, but I prefer the informal approach that led us to a fine afternoon at Sang's. My personal goals for the Baltimore Audio Club are to meet other audiofools, hear other people's systems (and music), have the opportunity to swap equipment, cables, etc. in and out of systems (mine especially, but others' as well) to find out what works for my tastes...
Maybe if everyone chimes in with their goals, we can move as a group in the most desired direction.

Oh heck, whoever wants to come over, bring a six-pack and some vinyl and let's groove. ;)
