Does anyone think a U-turn Orbit turntable a good entry level choice?... Or not?

I tried researching some lower priced turntables for my Daughter who is just getting into vinyl. I liked this company because you can custom build your 'table that you order from them. I know their is some very good inexpensive turntables from Rega, Sumiko etc...This company (U-turn) seems to have good customer service and they seem proud of what they are doing. Curious to what others think.

A great company actually nearby (I live in the Boston area burbs)...I know people who own these things and they seem like a well made, reasonably priced table that works very well.
IMO, the Orbit is probably the best option at the $300-ish price point. I've handled most of the contenders in this range and the U-turn felt the most robust and well-built. One of the most important parts of any turntable is the platter bearing. This is where the Orbit leaves the competition in the dust. The one I encountered ran silent and had less radial platter runout than the entry-level ProJects, Music Halls and Regas.

The Orbit's tonearm also feels best in class, only matched by that of the Rega P1.

The only notable flaw/weakness (considering the Orbits price point) was an orange-peel appearance to its paint finish - why I'd opt for the walnut version.
The walnut is beautiful. Don't know of many TT manufacturer's that will give you a solid premium wood plinth.
A bunch of my friends, non-audiophile, have them and love them. Listened to them more than a few times they sound quite nice and very good for the money.

Thanks guys, for your opinions. In the back of my mind, I thought the U-turn Orbit would be a safe choice, but I have been wrong before. lol
