NEW Cerious Technologies Upgrade - Graphene Matrix Cables

CT Graphene Matrix Cables:

I have been using the CT GE cables for almost two years.
I recently traded up for a full loom of CT Graphene Matrix cables, including speaker, interconnect and PCs, and I wanted to share my experience. I started by replacing only the ICs to try and hear the differences.

The new Matrix interconnects sounded better than the GE immediately after install. I found the original Graphene Extreme ICs to be good but not on the same level as the outstanding GE speaker cables. As break-in started to clear things up, I can hear more clarity and detail not heard before. The ICs are incredible on their own and at the 30 hour mark, I can hear a clear superiority over the GE ICs. I recently started using the Teo Game Changer ICs and preferred them over GE but the Teo has now fallen to the new Graphene Matrix ICs. My Teo’s were and are great, and it is stunning to experience Cerious Technologies commitment to making great technology better.

On the third day of listening to the GM ICs. I couldn’t wait anymore, Having too much fun. I then installed the speaker cables and power cords once I had a pretty good feel for the sound of the GM ICs.

With the full loom of GM cables running in they are going through some strange changes and definitely need time to settle down before realizing what they can really do and very important Bob says to not move them. Since I have a home office I can let them run in all day. I’m at around 120 hours now and they are still improving. Here’s what I’m hearing:

Extended highs and tighter lows.
More detail and better low level listening
Drums are tighter, more clearly defined. So real is the snap of the snare drum. The bass has more depth, seemingly goes deeper, lower. This aspect stands out the most.

I am not in the industry, I’m not an engineer, I don’t work for Cerious Technologies, but I am a fan of the cables and am enjoying what my system is capable of.

I’m closer to my own pinnacle of sound reproduction than ever before.

oyaide emphasizes more on the treble when comparing to matrix. however, it feels lighter too. it can be a bit (just a bit) too much treble on some recordings but still not harsh feeling. matrix is smoother and fuller. maybe details are a bit more and individual instruments are better seperated on matrix. overall matrix is better balance on everything. both of them are excellent cables.

No experience yet on the Matrix but the Oyaide Tunami Terzo V2 is a very good sounding cable and will embarrass cables upward of $1.5K+ and we are talking about $200 cables bought directly from an authorized distributor in Japan.

I discovered the beauty of Oyaide SSC 102 about 2 months ago after hearing many rave about their Black Mamba V2 PC and it is fantastic; replaced my full loom of Nanotec # 308 and 1 CTE Red with these and couldn’t be happier. This DIY PC can be made for $130 total with Parts Connexion Rhodium AC Plug Set.

It’s the latest copper techniques that’s driving the performance of this cable, hence the name SSC which is pure copper with a conductivity of 102.

This is an Outstanding product and yields a greater performance ratio than replacing a fuse and of course it is all system dependent.

@wig

Where are you getting the diy cable for the Black Mamba v2? All I'm seeing are finished cables on ebay.
Received my Matrix speaker cables today to go with the Matrix interconnects I already have.To say they are, right out of the box, a significant improvement over the previous generation of CT speaker cables would be an understatement. They are amazing. The construction is first class and equal to or better then any I have had. Every aspect of the musical presentation has improved. Details as I get more along...Thanks Bob.

calloway,

 Congratulations.
Adding the speaker cables to your CM interconnects really adds to the enjoyment / improvement.
Best cables I have ever tried / owned by far.

talking about Oyaide pc, i have their flagship Tunami GPX-R V2 on my int. amp. very powerful and good dynamic yet no loss in details. given the minimal difference between the GM ic and Oyaide ic, i think i dont have to replace the pc.
So the Oyaide TUNAMI GPX-R V2 is the flagship?  I didn't even know that existed.   I already have the Black Mamba V2 (professionally built one) on the way.  Darn at those cheaper prices I would have rather gone for the "flagship" at 300.00 than the lower performing Black Mamba cable at 200.00.  That is of course if the Oyaide TUNAMI GPX-R V2 is truly the better performer Than the Black Mamba V2.  I guess it could be system dependent.  Anyone know sonically what the difference between these two PCs would be?  I thought about trying the Matrix PC, but the inflexibility of the cord is keeping me away so far.
Thanks for the posts above, guys.
I'm waiting for delivery of the Digital Interconnect + Damping Squared - RCA (Single) have not heard how long the wait will be yet?

kclone,

Based upon the individual who turned me on to the Oyaide PC, said the BM V2 was neutral, more transparent and is very flexible.

Wig

oh yes just double checked, the construction is different. Black Mamba V2 should be easy to flex. TUNAMI GPX-R V2 is thicker so my one is not that flexible
@littlecx What's your take on the difference between the Mamba V2 and Tunami V2?

And have you had a Cerious Tech Graphene Extreme pc before?

My Cerious Tech Matrix pc is pretty awesome on both my integrated amp and also when I've tried it on my Panasonic tv. Everything across the spectrum is just great. I ordered a Black Mamba V2 just to see how it fares with the other pc's I've been trying lately.
I dont have Black Mamba V2. I just find the cut off diagram from the site. I dont have any cerious technologies product before. This is the first time. It seems my GM ic is getting better and better, I may consider their pc again.
Wig,

I have limited room and require shorter cord lengths behind my rack due its closeness to the rear wall. Can a 1m length preassembled Black Mamba V2 or Tunami V2 be purchased anywhere you know of?

Preassembled PC can be bought here but look around this site to see if the Tunami V2 is available as well since I never considered that one because I wanted neutrality over a slightly warm PC. I believe 1.8M is all that's available for preassembled PC but you can build one yourself and save a little money.

My cables arrived within 7-10 days.

@calloway

Did you have Graphene Extreme speaker cables just before the Matrix? I'm thinking instead of getting another pc I'll just get the Matrix sc's after trading in the GE's.

. Right or wrong, I use cables to offset the nature of my recordings with the gear.  Sometimes it can be challenging to get a system to relax a little and I just don't think neutral cables cut it in that department.  So based on my preference I would want a warmer PC and it sounds like the Graph. Matrix may work.  But first things first, I am going to keep an open mind and try out the Black Mamba V2 I already have on the way.

Just based upon the design, I would think the GM to be neutral and even more resolving with silver coated copper but maybe the other elements used in the design may warm it up a bit.

I can't wait for the GM Umbilical Cord to come available...

Wig

The Matrix power cable is just different than every cable I've heard thus far. I'm not sure you can describe it in terms of neutral or warm, it's like in another realm of understanding sound if that makes any sense. It's so real and natural that you don't think about if it's too this or too that. At least this has been my experience so far with just one Matrix pc on my integrated amp and the rest GE cables on everything else.
t_ramey..yes. I had the Graphene Extreme speaker cables before. These are significantly better. will listen again tonight. The total burn in time may be > 100 hrs so if they are going to get better for that long this is going to be a great ride..
Bob said do not move it during burn-in period. So after burn-in, will it sound different if I move it? And have to start all over again like HFC if plug it to another system?
Based upon my experience with the CTG speaker cables and I assume the Matrix is similar, (if I'm incorrect someone please correct me) moving the speaker cables after they are broken in will cause them to sound different but they should settle in when relocated a lot faster. Not the same as the HFC products which has to go through the process of regaining magnetic conduction.
Just a 'hats off' to Bob for the nice job he's done with the Matrix line. I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but i received my pc today. Everything from packaging to build quality to parts looks and feels super. I realize that sound is of 1st priority, and soon that will be revealed, but so far , impresive. Thanks Bob
Thanks Wig,

I think you wrote, in another thread, that  you definitely preferred the Nanotec 308 power cord over the Furutech SO22N or DPS-4 cables. That would make the Black Mamba one heck of a power cable, as you prefer it to the 308. How would you compare the BM V2 to Tunami V2?
tuffy72561,

I have not personally compared the two but a friend said the BM V2 was more transparent but you really can't go wrong with either at this price point.

The Hallmark of these cables are refinement and precision, everything is laid out much better with sharper images and super black backgrounds; music just start and stops so much faster, not to mention that the soundstage is wider and deeper.

Wig
Out of curiosity, I'd like to hear from someone that has actually heard the Nanotec 308 power cord vs the Furutech SO22N and DPS-4 cables.
lak,

I own the Nanotec 308 and the Furutech DPS-4 cables.
On both types I have installed Furutech NCF nano connectors. In my opinion the DPS-4 is better suited for digital (because of all the shielding) and the 308 is better suited for amps, preamps etc.

At this point, I have not tried Bob's Cerious Matrix power cords to compare, but I would like to.

ozzy
Thanks Ozzy!

I have the Matrix speaker cables and power cords on my list, eventually
;-)
actually i also have oyaide Continental 5S V2 usb cable. it is silver for the signal transmission part. anyone using?
new Matrix speaker cables continue to evolve. The music, with them in, is so much more emotionally involving then with the previous CT cables.Guitar strumming is so tight and you can hear each string as its hit within the soundstage. Previous background instruments are so much more prominent now.The combination of the Matrix i/c and speaker cable has truly taken my system's sound to a 'new level'.So natural sounding.Vocal intonations are just so much more 'you are there'...more later...
@lak

I have compared the # 308 to Furutech 55N, 32N and 22N with NCF and standard FI-50M rhodium connectors and in my system it was no comparison to the # 308 but the 32N and 22N are more resolving compared to the 55N.

The Oyaide BM V2 is even better...

Wig
wig,

You didn't mention Furutech DPS-4. Its really in a different league. Different wire, shielding, gauge than the other Furutech's you mentioned.

ozzy
ozzy,

Wanted to try the DPS but the source I used to evaluate these didn't think they were an improvement over the previous cables I tried at their price point.

I did a quick a/b yesterday with a 308, s022n, dps-4, and Matrix on my Melody AN-845 integrated. Then did one on my Lampi Atlantic Plus dac with the 308, dsp-4, and s022n. On the 308, s022n, and dsp-4 have the same rhodium carbon fiber plugs that I think Mike at Tweek Geek uses as a cost effective option to the Furutech FI-50’s and on the s022n and dsp-4 I grounded the shield only on the AC plug end and have put Furutech nano liquid on the contact wires on all cables, except the Matrix of course. Now it would be much better to let each cable sit in the system for several days and then switch but I know my aural memory would not be so good for the previous cable, I guess I could take notes but I’m not interested in going that far...

On both the amp and dac I much preferred the dsp-4 to the 308. Much more natural and closer to the Matrix cable while the 308 to me seems just a little more digital sounding by comparison and can see if one has a warmer sounding system it would fit nicely. The s022n to me kinda falls in between these two and for the price of diy is a great option. Wherever I put the s022n I like it and it’s been one of my favorite cables as but I do think the dps-4 is better but for a lot more money.

The Matrix takes everything on the dsp-4 to another level with a lower noise floor and a notch better in realism. I could probably live with the dsp-4 but after hearing the Matrix now I can’t go back. Just me and my ears in my system so all this could be quite different for someone else. These are all great cables and feel it’s just a matter of fit for ones taste and system.

I do have a Black Mamba V2 on the way to compare later on.
@t_ramey thank you for the above information!
I didn't know that anyone on this forum had the collection you listed.
That sure answered several questions that I have been wondering about.
Now I'd like to hear how the Oyaide Black Mamba V2 and Tunani GPX V2 power cords compare?
t_ramey,

Thank You. For reporting your findings. I may try one of each of these power cords here soon: BM V2, GPX V2 and I may trade in my Cerious Tech GE yellow for a  Matrix pc.
t_ramey

Thanks again for your observations on those PC. I ordered the Tunami V2 PC DIY to discern the differences in comparison to the Black Mamba.

Wig
Lancelock since you have wired your entire system with Cerious Technology have you since made any changes to your cable loom specifically your CT power cords for any reason. ?
I like CTs choice of specific power cord duties for system needs specifically what I’m looking for are power cords for low current components that specify low capacitance wire to perform optimally.

@in_shore , The CT GE Red worked well for those low current duties. I have all Matrix now in all positions with excellent results. I’m guessing there will be good deals on a lot of GE since many are trading in cables.

Lance
its been few days since i recieved the GM XLR. cant believe it still keep improving. now it sounds as clear as oyaide tunami terzo xx v2 but the whole presentation is more elegant and sophisticated. I have no reason not to make the whole system all GM.
