Perfect Path Technologies: Omega E mat

I’m curious about this product from Perfect Path Technologies and would like to hear from those that have experience with it. I’ve bought and used the Total Contact enhancer and like what it does for my system so I’m interested in hearing how this Omega E mat performs.

Ha! I wish I did!  I don’t understand many things I enjoy from cell phones to accupuncture😁

Nevertheless I use and enjoy all kinds of technology I don’t fully understand.  I have yet to try this product so have given no review or opinion.  How could I? My mind remains open based on the many things in life I enjoy but don’t understand.  My beautiful wife for another!
@stereo5

Ok I stand corrected on you not asking for the mat thread to be taken down.  I got that wrong as your statement was not completely clear.  I apologize  for that.

Yes, we disagree on the wisdom of painting with such a negative broad brush on a product not tried or understood.

Please no politics here. Please I beg. I hope this is one place to escape all that mess.
@ozzy

Yes,  very interesting indeed. So much potential learning from your efforts here. Thank you for not giving up and pressing onto more options. Perhaps one does need to remove the other tweaks first? Perhaps these other tweaks are enough and the mat adds nothing more if these are already in place? Perhaps, or perhaps not.  Look forward to your comments in the future. I use ERS in my conditioner and my breaker box. Perhaps ERS is a mat blocker of sorts?
@sbayne

Great on those magnetic mats and let us know how it turns out. I will not be able to spend $600 per mat so your testing is important to me and many others.
I have found ERS cloth sheets and tape to harm sound in some locations and gear, but improve sound in other instances.  You must experiment and see.  I works great in my balanced power conditioner and not so well in my past CD player or as a shield in audio cable production.
@ozzy

I could not find your virtual system page and wonder if you made another set of speakers? Can you share what speakers you are currently using? Thanks.
Wow! Ozzy your new speakers completely surprised me.  I have often wondered how those would sound. I bet they sound wonderful with the Bob Carver monster tube amps! Nice.
We know the E-mat does not use magnetism for its magic.  We were already told that. It is still interesting to try these low cost magnetic tweaks because we can 🙂
You may. But let’s keep it here as I am sure we will end up combining the two etc.. Again, it’s all good! User experiences and ideas to use with the E-mats or without are what these forums are for. How E-mats work with other tweaks etc... All this is good. To limit it means it does become an ad, not a forum.
@sbayne

Please post here as you are welcomed by most everyone of us.  Look forward to your kitchen mat results.  Not sure why one or two posted such short and strangely negative posts? Anyway just  ignore them 🙂
Not you at all Frank. Tim actually. No reason for that post by him. The other magnet thing is just another interesting aspect of this thread. They can both live here as well as other ideas.  I think the posts here have been positive and great.  All good stuff.
Question on the Emat. I will be trying the smaller ones once they are ready. I plan to place one in each of the crossover compartments located in the bottom of my speakers. Can I use some small pieces of double sided tape to hold these in place? I assume this is a non-issue. I just don’t want these loose in the cab. Also, I assume these mats are not conductive?

Thanks

We seem to have varying results system to system with the mat. Both Ozzy and Lak are well respected Agoners with a long and solid history of experience here. TC seemed more universal in praise and result.  I spoke with another Agoner who shared the improvement with the mat was there, but not substantial.  Don’t think we yet know why some rigs respond more than others?

One use of the mat has seemed to garner near universal praise and that is placement in the main circuit breaker panel.  Here the placement seems to improve every electrical appliance and system in the home from lighting to TVs and refrigerators! Wow!

Tim, you are jumping to conclusions and referring to the wrong person above. Yes, I also talked to the person you mentioned above, but I was not referring to him. Yes, his system is still settling in and he knows that as well as I. No reason to be so defensive. I like your product and simply look forward to learning more about where it works best and in what types of systems. Seems the level of AC tweaking and attention as well as interaction with other system tweaks plays a role here. That is my interest and my post just reflected it. Sorry to say your post is an over reaction and not even accurate. I talk to many folks about audio and you jumped to the wrong conclusion and person.
Frank and @t_ramey

Thank you guys for starting these threads on two new products that are elevating the musical experience of many music lovers. I enjoy the sharing of experiences and all actual experiences are welcome and useful to our community here. I know both of you do this out of a sincere excitement for the products and desire to share with others. Absolutely no doubt in my mind. I purchase two TC kits because of these threads. One directly from Tim and one through a member.  I have also posted several very positive reviews of TC.  I am also going to buy the smaller cards if Tim lets me 😕

It is unfortunate the owner seems less excited about hearing all opinions and questions. Tim, you would do well to step back and not appear as though you are treating and intending this open forum to be a one way advertisement. You attacked me and were indeed “short” with Ozzy for no good reason. No reason. I assume, like all of us, there are times when we can respond more appropriately and with more understanding. I hope this is the case in the future as the last thing any of us need in life is difficultly in places where we look for enjoyment.

I don’t want to dwell on this stuff anymore Tim. My benign post stated the mat improved the sound, just not to the level of others/other systems. No mention of disappointment or not working etc... My motive is clear based on my history on this site. My reputation if you will. I want for the community to better understand when the mat will have the greatest impact and where. That’s it.

You are now speculating I have some sort of ill motive here. I am sincerely sorry you feel/see it this way.
For the same reason as you? Current customer and potential new one on the card size. Plus active Aphile enjoying these threads much like you though not quite as active as you.
Tim, when I said I would not buy a $600 mat because of the cost it is not a knock on your product. It is based on the fact that I have just retired and no longer have the income stream to do so. I cannot afford the potential sound improvement of this product (full sized mat). It just won’t happen based on financial needs and priorities. I ask if you are looking for offense? If one is looking for offense they are certainly going to find it. However, if we look for what is good and right we will see and find that. I am talking about our filters and perspective on life, others and relationships. I understand your filter may be tilted due to perceived offenses by others here, but I am not your enemy.

I hope we can can find peace moving forward as I truly believe we have much in common and there is no real offense taking place here on either end. I choose to believe that and this is far more important to me than any product. If I have acted in a negative way towards you or hurt you in any way, then I apologize. I am not perfect and certainly may be blind to times when I hurt others unintentionally.
Guys his system(s) are there for you to see under his virtual systems page. He has some nice stuff and I have always liked the idea of using ATC powered speakers with a great source and preamp. I don’t doubt his rig sounds great. Would it benefit from TC and the mat? I think so. He has however taken a very smart approach to great sound in his set up.

He does offer out an interesting proposition regardless of how old the claim gets. I think both he and the land of tweaks like the E-mat can live together for the ultimate rig. I would really enjoy his take on the E-mat and TC after actually using them in his system. Not sure this would ever happen? I would love to hear his rig!

What a great thought and thank you for it! Very well said.
I worked in innovation for 32 years.  @geoffkait is spot on with his statements above.  A patent simply gives others deeper knowledge and vital missing links on how you accomplished your innovation. Competition will learn from it and change one portion enough to call it their own and skate by. Best to keep it a secret.
The claims made about patents and their risks are real. Also, why do some of you assume the owner has not taken this tech elsewhere? I am confident he has already and this audio thing just happens to be one avenue the owner is using.  He is an Audiophile so why not apply here also?
I had to deal with that question in my profession. The answer is it depends. I think you missed my point earlier. Competition will learn from your patent and this is key....then CHANGE and thing or two just enough to break away from the patent. You just managed to help others learn from your hard work and take it to the next level with some alterations. Surprising how slight these alterations can be to escape patent issues.

So if what you have is extremely difficult to figure out and tool for, then keeping quiet with no patent may indeed be the wise decision as it is highly unlikely competition will be able to respond in a timely manner.
He is not listening or understanding because he simply does not want to. I say we move on as sometimes folks have a notion and no amount of truth and reason will get through. This is at play here and now.
Not if the mat is more difficult than you think to copy. Again, you have no idea how possible or near impossible it is. Simple stuff. You assume it is easy to buy, copy, and produce. You may be completely wrong. Yes, protection with a patent makes sense if your particular speculation is right. Perhaps you are wrong. Perhaps? Can you even say it?
thecarpathian

Agree with your last statement. We just speculated on different ends of this and all is good. Nothing to laugh at. Your last post was clear and better understood.
My point is they would not have any idea what we were doing! Not a clue. No place to even begin to understand as they would have no knowledge, no insight, no intel, no place to start. Sometimes a patent is not the best approach. Sometimes. Not always or even often. Getting a patent is certainly conventional wisdom for many.  You know just doing it because that’s what you’re supposed to do 🙂

Well some of the statements that crack up Fleschler crack me and many others up. We have no idea what is in the mat, yet some speculate that it cannot be anything really new Or easily copied. Really? We have no idea. You have no real idea. This makes me laugh. Reasonable thought ..... right?

Also, credible reasons for not revealing every nuance of an innovation in a patent were given, but absolutely no credence was given to them. Again, since we have no idea how difficult and disruptive this technology is, the reasons given for not filing are certainly within the realm of reasonableness. Right? The inability to consider this makes me smile....sort of.

Since we don’t know the answers to these mat questions a reasonable discussion would be open to reasoned speculations. I am open to the speculative notion that the mat may be very easy to copy and nothing particularly difficult to produce. I am willing to say it may be so. However, it may be the complete opposite needing a careful plan to protect its design. Conventional wisdom regarding the safety and “wisdom” of patents can be debated in some cases.

I clearly remember and competitor thanking me at a convention for the patent on a cooking technology that was a complete game changer and disrupting the marketplace. He explained the process from beginning to end with great detail as he was an engineer and quite smart. Yes, he was able to read the patent. No doubt they are now working on this and will tweak it to make it their own. I wish we kept it out of the patent books as the competition would not have a clue till this very day.
Goodness you are relentless in your speculative view. Just consider other possible realities and approaches as they may have some wisdom and that is how we learn. Agreed?
Ok Uber go for 10 mats then! I also think the small ones could be interesting with unique placement options such as crossovers and power strips.
Using a fellow Agoner’s mat. I get around here and have been an active part of the community for decades...see my feedback. I obviously know many who both own and are trying the mat as we communicate by email and through Agon.

We friendly Aphile types like to share our skills, time, knowledge as well as gear and tweaks at times.
I have been testing one mat for just over two weeks. My system is already completely treated with the TC paste for some added perspective to the reader. I love that paste! For my rig and room the mat has been a mixed bag. I placed the mat under my Lyngdorf 2170 powered dac/int amp.

At first the music became a tad brighter with the music more energized and individual instruments more apparent. Over time the brightness went away. No doubt the mat makes for a more vibrant presentation. However, with the good came a sense that it was too much of a good thing. Too much vibrancy if you will. I removed the mat from under the 2170 after 10 days and placed it in the breaker box. After some 4 days here I just did not notice as much change and bailed on that position.

Right now it is back under my int amp and that vibrancy is back. Exciting and certainly different, but I am just not sure if I like the sound change (long term listening) or am simply amused by it? I will give it another week before my final thoughts. Thus far the additional energy, vibrancy and presence the mat delivers is perhaps calling too much attention to itself for my taste and particular system. There is no doubt just one mat has an influence on our gear and resulting music. On one hand I like like it, then on the other I am just not sure.

Ok 10 days is not enough. I will try for 14-20 days. I thought 10 days was quite patient for the average Audiophile! The thread owner comments suggest 10 days is certainly a good indication. My breaker box is only 8 feet away from my gear so hopefully being this close helps me on this 20 day quest. Thanks.
Also when you turn your gear off do you start all over? I assume not, but several of us were wondering.
In order to paste the entire chassis one would need a tub of TC🙂 I pasted my breaker panel door and used almost 1/2 a container. I would use a whole one or more to cover my BPT conditioner.
I think he is referring to pasting the entire unit chassis, outlet sides, wires, caps, etc... and potentially causing an unintended conductive bridge leading to a short. It is a good reminder to be very careful and diligent.  Agreed?
I misunderstood your words here...

”AND the inside of the chassis including the inside of the cover”

I suppose you meant the parts inside the chassis, but you can see it can be interpreted otherwise.

Well I let the mat sit another 12 days or so and still was not sure the result was worth the cost of these mats. Then something occurred to me two days ago. ......

Well I had a  revelation.  My Lyngdorf has an Audio Magic Pulse Gen Zx in it.  It blocks EMI and RFI.  Well I understand these devices may restrict the impact of the mat.  I removed it 2 days ago. Well now I like what I am hearing.  The mat had been in my system some 22 days with mixed results until I removed the Audio Magic tweak. As soon as I removed it I was treated with all of the benifits folks have been sharing about on this thread. Music sounds more beautiful than ever in my home. My system sounds more like live music than ever before. As I turn it up the music swells and expands without any sense of being forced or fired at me from the speakers.

Wonder what two would do? 🙂

@davidpritchard

Only have one mat under the Lyngdorf.  I am interested in the smaller cards for my LPSs used to power my USB reclocker and USB SoTM card.
@davidpritchard, Frank and others.

SR is having a special right now on the Blue line. If one were to spend $285 for a Blue fuse and Blue outlet how would you rate the sonic impact to your system compared to a second E-Mat? Is the Blue combo 1/2 the positive impact? Just as impactful? Nowhere near as impactful? Only so much money to spend and I wonder if I should just wait and save to buy a second E-Mat down the road or buy the Blue combo now.
I propose the active portion of the mat is also the thickness of a credit card and the rest is the magnetic sheet.  Not sure, but speculate.
@uberwaltz, Are the cards out yet? Are you going to paste the Blue outlet? I think I read that pasting the Blue line did not work out as well as nude Blue? I remember reading this here?
I pasted my entire system. Speaker crossovers and internal speaker wire to driver connections yielded the best results for me. I also pasted my LPSs, Lyngdorf 2170, computer server and all cabling connections. I pasted my outlet to in-wall wire connections. I pasted the tops of caps, transformer covers, all connections internally that were safe to paste without the chance for unintentional conductive bridges.

I am just not sure about SR Blue. Seems this line is best unpasted.
Seems they are for cell phone use mostly/ideally. The Audiophile comments on their usefulness seems rather subdued and a tad less than completely enthusiastic. I get they are only 1/10th the size and I guess possibly 1/10th the effectiveness?  Look forward to owner comments on use and actual effectiveness. I was thinking of placing them in smaller 5-12 VDC LPSs, USB reclockers/filters and speaker crossover boards. I think in the right application these cards may be a great little tweak. These smaller LPSs and USB filters/reclockers are very small in size and perhaps the card is all that is needed for maximum impact?
