Dunlavy SC-IVas speaker grill reupholstering

Before crucifying me, the original fabric was frayed and looking pretty bad. While I could have replaced the fabric with something black and closer to the original (and still can in the future) I decided I’d go with something that made them less imposing. All together, it took just a Sunday afternoon. Figured I'd share the results as, to me, they definitely look better.

I fully agree on the color choice.  I had a pair of Duntech Princess (older sibling to the SC-IV) with white oak cabinets and a very light silver/gray grill cloth.  They were much less obtrusive visually than the common black cloth.

Oh yes, I also enjoyed to sonics so much I kept them for 19 years.  That's almost unheard of for any audio hobbyist. ;^)
Looks good ! I know the Dunlavy speakers were designed with low diffraction material on the front baffles and with grills on. Any difference in sq with the grills off ?, as I always preferred the grills off when listening. Enjoy ! MrD.
Honestly. Yes. I did them one at a time so I could test the difference. Both the original fabric and the new impacted the sound. Both before and now, I'll remove them when listening. If I can find a fabric that doesn't, I'd definitely switch, but don't want to spend money only to still be removing them
