Why price of Tannoy speakers from online retailers in UK is cheaper than in US

I am looking for a pair of new Tannoy Kensington GR speakers. I notice the price from many online retailers in UK is cheaper than in US.  I believe they are authorized dealers because their websites are listed on Tannoy website.  Current price in UK for a pair of Tannoy Kensington GR Speakers is 9290 pounds(approximately 12K USD). Price in US is 9K/each or 18K/pair.   If we add shipping fee and import taxes and duties, it is still significantly less than the price in US. does anyone have  experience with buying Tannoy speakers directly from UK retailers.  Your input is appreciated.

That's exactly why I built my own. I bought pair of HPD 315 (12" DC drivers), on Ebay UK, and was able to build them to a degree that Tannoy never would. All for roughly $5000.

They are my speakers for life.

Regards,
Dan
I feel this is the number one reason you see audio companies starting to direct sell so there is not the middle man taking a cut. This lowers their prices 15-30% across the board. the distributor is a love hate relationship. Love the overseas products we see but hate the mark up.

try  it when your distributor is in another country, always hated giving a cut to a company in another country altogether then either the source country or destination country.
Best hunting grounds for used English speakers good as new are Canadian cities .
One point to remember the advertised price in UK INCLUDES the VAT tax. So if the seller knows the item is being exported out of the VAT tax region. the buyer either does not have to pay it, or can get a refund for it. VAT tax is like 20%. So that UK price would actually be 20% less sold to a person exporting them to USA or none EU country. That taken off VAT would pay for shipping... and maybe the import duty. The biggest problem is the red tape... Mess it up and your speakers will sit in some customs warehouse forever.
