My brother the doctor needs speakers

HI HE NEEDS SPEAKERS FOR THE FAMILY ROOM, HE HAS A SONY 909ES RECIVER . ANY SUGGESTIONS
tennisball
I would go with the 300 series B&Ws too or any speaker fairly forgiving of electronics. Am I correct in guessing that he is a fairly casual listener, HT type of guy? Paradigm Reference might also do well with off-axis and HT use.
I think Mr. Marakanetz sums it up quite nicely and considering the amp is a Sony
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR COMMENTS , WE WILL HAVE TO DO SOME UP GRADES .HE LIKES A SIMPLE EASY TO USE SYSTEM THAT WILL DO BOTH VIDEO AND AUDIO, HE IS NOT AN AUDIOPHILE.
Now Tennisball has given us some info--I think Bose or maybe Bang and Olufsen. They are the masters at simple and easy to use--and you don't have to worry about them being too Audiophile.
He could build a pretty respectable system with:
-Outlaw 1050 A/V receiver
-Axiom speakers(80s up front, M3s surround, center, sub)
-Pioneer DVD player(as transport into Outlaw)
-Apogee Wyde Eye digital cable
-ZuCable interconnects/cable
The entire system would cost around $2500 and be great for music or movies.

If he's got some spare cash:
-Linn CD12
-Ayre DVD player
-Boulder pre/pro
-Halcro amps
-5 or 7 Talon Khorus Xs w/ 2 Roc subs
-Nordost Valhalla cables all around
-Crestron remote to tie it all together and make it easy

Of course there are a few options in between. Best of luck.
