Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Wow, your post was long and informative. Thanks...Let me tell you my experience. I have come to experience (not believe) that it is NOT the type of the cartridge (MM/MC) but more the actual type of the stylus (elliptical, shibata, microline, van d...
What class of amplifier has the most high definition sound ?
Class A, since there is no crossover distortion of any sort.NO OTHER CLASS can beat it.BUT....... class A runs extremely hot & inefficient.Pass Labs are the best example.
Hercules 2 vs Valhalla heat problems
Are the cap failures due to inadequate voltage spec of the caps or just simply becoz of their age ?
Will Technology Kill the Audiophile Hobby?
To help climate change, I propose all class A and A/B amps are forbidden, only class D should remain.Furthermore, they should work with windmills since there will not be any electricity generation left soon due to abandoning fossil fuel use.Alexan...
Origin DC Motor in LP12: Marketing or reality?
I am late to this forum but here is my take on it.....Synchronous motors are DESIGNED to be constant speed based on supply FREQUENCY.DC motors have inherently variable speed based EXTREMELY  sensitively on DC voltage. To ensure that a DC motor stay...

@ramtubes, I am aware that MOStTSSRs use thyristors and are not suitable for audio applications.  They are designed for motor controls.  That is why I am getting ones made with back to back Mosfets.  Pls see my post above regarding the audio SSRs ...
CD Got Absolutely Crushed By Vinyl
After about late 1990's to 2000's, most vinyl music is first recorded digitally in the studio and then pressed onto the vinyl.  There is HARDLY any direct analog recordings any more. So, everyone who THINKS that they are listening to analog on viny...

For anyone who risk blowing their thousands of dollars costing speakers because they rely on tweeter caps, be my guest and good luck.I still will be building my protection circuit :-)

Ok, I bought a pair of these from down under:https://holtonprecisionaudio.com/collections/diy-audio-products/products/audio-solid-state-relay-hpa...I will post on this thread later when I have time to add them to my circuits. Thanks
trying to understand the Linn motor
I almost always give my platter a hand spin as I power it on to make it easier on the motor & the belt.  I guess as long as I continue doing that I can probably lower the voltage even more (like 60V as in Lingo).I wonder what the lowest thresh...
trying to understand the Linn motor
I need a 50Hz pulley for my US Ariston since moving to a hercules board requires the motor to be driven at 50 Hz.  I can always change the 45 rpm crystal on the hercules to a 3.9Mhz and make it work at 60 Hz but that is my last option.  This way, ...
trying to understand the Linn motor
My situation is a bit weird....I have an Ariston RD11 in the US.  Its Valhalla board has the 3.9Mhz crystal (for 60Hz).  However, at the output, it has the 0.22uF capacitor designed for the "110 V ac-50Hz: C=0.22mF, speed = 250 rpm" output.I canno...

ssg308,Crydom relays are typically for motor control apps.  They will not have a low enuf switching resistance and linear frequency response for an audio signal.
best mm/mc preamp under $200 and best mc cartridge under $500 for an SME 3009 S2 arm ?
What do u think about the Denon DL301 Mk 2 ?  It seems extremely well priced.  Or, is the treble response better on the AT740ML ?  I DO like extra treble to compensate for my age :-)Unless I am mistaken it looks like hi compliance (16) and therefo...
