Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Someone has to buy that ATN180 stylus, it's extremely rare and almost impossible to find. And even if you don't have a cartridge generator (budy), you can have mine to add the stylus on :)
Stanton Cartridge CRAZ 520 SK question
There are actually hundreds of better Hi-Fi cartridges to choose and i would never start from any MC, just Moving Magnet or Moving Iron with removable style ONLY.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
@travbrow  Chakster, I’ve owned a few Technics with BORON pipe cantilever and they were very good. Yes they can suffer suspension collapse. I owned a Technics P205CMKIV  with bad suspension and sent it to that guy in Germany (along with a Technic...
Technics SL-1700 feet
I am using Isonoe, what are you trying to say, have you ever tried/seen them? They can be screwed in any technics as the direct replacement of the stock feet (which is a junk even on SH-10B3 obsidian plinth). For any other equipment (CD players et...
Stanton Cartridge CRAZ 520 SK question
You are probably talking about signature DJ Craze cartridge made by Stanton about 20 years ago. You can use it if the stylus is not worn out. This is a professional model for DJing. "SK" is most likely Skratch, well it must be conical tip designed...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
@travbrow  Chakster, most of those cartridges you mentioned are hard to find and mostly not cheap. I’ve recently seen a USED ATML180 for $1400.00! Most of the cartridges I bought were under $200.00. I like finding bargains like the last one I bou...
How much difference will a phono stage upgrade make?
Here is a factory tour:  Manley Labs' Chino, California headquarters
What's your go-to cheapie cartridge?
ouch, so i am completely off-topic here with my recommendations I must say $50 for Klipsch MCZ is a steal, it's a $500 minimum, lucky you. I paid much more for my MCZ-10 Ruby, but at least it was factory sealed.
Tonearms with no anti-skate adjustment
InterestingI remember when Thomas Schick's tonearm was designed without antiskating, it was about 5-7 years ago when i bought my Schick "12. At that time the designer said antiskating is not needed for such a long tonearm. But now i can see on his...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Each time we’re discussing a "new discoveries" please add the reference cartridges you’re comparing your "cart of the week" to (in both directions weather it MM/MI or MC). One vintage MM cartridge can be better than others, but when you comparing ...
Technics SL-1700 feet
Sorry but precisely because rare but above all very expensive (2 or 3 times more than the Technics 1700) it is absolutely useless to advise them. AT616 can be used not only under turntables, but under a table platform itself, because those feet (...
What's your go-to cheapie cartridge?
@tonyptony Let me be clear and say again that the 103R is *my* go-to right now, although I’ve been curious about other carts in this price range. One thing I love about it is, frankly, the elliptical stylus. You’re wrong, because the original st...
sony vl -5 cartage & nd5g any good ?
Don't know about this cartridge, but i have one SONY MM cartridge in collection. I bought on my own risk, but when i played first record with SONY XL-50 i was blown away, really.
What's your go-to cheapie cartridge?
@tonyptony maybe not exactly $300, but very close to it under $450 if you're lucky:Audio-Technica AT-ML150 OCC would be a perfect choice within your budget. It is a good start, two other upper models in this series are simply the best ever, but fo...
