Technics SL-1700 feet
@john421 just add ISONOE and you will be fine, for higher budget buy AT616 Pneumatic Insulators (very rare) as they can support much higher weight up to 130lbs (can be used under any turntable, including superheavy ones if you will ever upgrade yo...
Want to upgrade my cartridge from 2m blue to black
@uberwalts  Jico used to make stylus for the 981 but a Pickering XSV3000 should work just as well. Which are a little easier to find and cheaper! Jico never made SAS stylus for Stanton/Pickering, all they did is cheap  generic Elliptical repla...
How much difference will a phono stage upgrade make?
I think a huge upgrade can be made if you will replace a tube phono stage with some decent new generation SS phono stage. Look for Gold Note PH-10 with external PSU if you want to try the most versatile SS phono stage with two inputs for whatever ...
Technics SL-1700 feet
The original Technics feet must be replaced on any old Technics turntable, no matter which model, those original feet provides ZERO isolation and Technics notorious for bass feedback picket up even by MM cartridge. So the first thing to do it to a...
Dynavector cartridges, old and new
@harrylavo Dynavector made several versions of KARAT Ruby, the better version have "MicroReach" stylus profile, the older version has just an Elliptical stylus. Same about Karat Diamond, the better versions are all have MicroReach and MicroRidge d...
Technics SL-1700 feet
And if you want something very special just remove all feet and put your Technics right on the flat and fully udjustable rare Audio-Technica AT616 Pneumatic Insulators.
Technics SL-1700 feet
If they are standard like all technics feet then you can upgrade to ISONOE, i've been using them for 7 years on my upgraded SL1210mkII
Want to get into Analog
@big_greg The best company to retip Stanton/Pickering is EXPERT STYLUS in UK. You can email them to ask for the price: info@expertstylus.co.uk  The stylus profile is Paratrace and the price is very reasonable if you can't find the OG replacement.
Best MM?
@nandric the price for any ADC would never be higher than $200 today, there are plenty of them available everyday. The exception is for rare Astrion MM with Sapphire cantilever (but an average sound) and the latest TRX IM 1,2,3 series designed for...
Want to get into Analog
@big_greg  I recently picked up a JVC QL-Y66F DD table with a Stanton 981 HZS cartridge for $545. Is it better than my digital sources (which isn't something the OP asked for by the way)? No. Do the used records I buy sound really nice on it afte...
Best MM?
@nandric There is nothing special about those cartridges if you will look at the specs and diamond/cantilever types. ADC 26 is very cheap cartridge from the 60’s, 25/27 designed before XLM series (which is crap too) IM type cartridge with the sam...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
@travbrow   The models I liked the most were the ATML170, Technics 100CMKIV and the Empires. Welcome back. The AT-ML170 and AT-ML180 are killer MM and i like then much better than Technics EPC-100c mk3 for example. Also never seen AT-ML with bad ...
Want to get into Analog
The cheapest tables with arm come in at 3K. @orpheus10  No, since Technics is back to business with Coreless Direct Drive (considered by many audiophiles as the best DD available today) and for very reasonable price, for example the 1200GR is ...
Dynavector cartridges, old and new
