Shibata Stylus
i bought my first system back in the 4 chanell era. at that time i only knew of the audio technica at15s and the at20s. i bought the at15s for 100 dollars. the at20s was 150 dollars. at that time, c-d 4 needed a cartridge to handle frequencies to ...

i have the 'elliptical zce+' it was $45.00 when i bought it.
McIntosh Preamp
i have a 2 chanell system. i bought a mx132 unit from audio classics back in 2013. only reason i bought that unit is because it matches my mc602 amp and it was the cheapest of the mx series.
Now, I'm confused.
i have bose 901 speakers. with 2 you have a basic system. if you want a wider soundstage, bose came out with their 'super bose system' back in the early 70's. 2 up front, 2 on the sides. that's what i have today after going thru the 4 chanell era.
Carver C-4000
i've seen pictures of this unit. i must say that it sure is a nice looking one to match up with a series 1 400 amp or a 700b amp.
McIntosh Preamp
i agree with stereo5. i would buy a pre-amp from the same era as the mc7300.
Quadraphonic records (LPs to you and me)
also, i forgot to mention that c-d 4 needed a demodulater for the c-4 records. the 'sq' needed a decoder that would be installed on the bottom of my marantx receiver. i'm not sure wheather the 'qs'. form needed anything.

i bought my first system during the 4 chanell era. i bought a marantz 4300. back then you had 'sq' c-d 4 and qs. 'sq and qs' did'nt need a special cartridge. but c-d 4 did. 'c-d 4 needed a stylus that would reach up to 40,000 hertz. that's when th...
mc602
if he is willing to spend the money, maybe he can contact mcintosh and send his unit to have it fixed!
Anyone Using Bose 901 speakers In A Home Theater?
because of the way the 901's are designed, i would think that you would need a room with no windows so the music would reflect the way it's supposed to do.
mc602
many thanks for the responses. since i'm planning on keeping it forever, is there any negative issues that i should know in the long run??
mc602
one of the lights on the right side of one meter went out recently. i would have it replaced but that amp 'weighs' too much to move! LOL!!
How old are your speakers
i should buy better speakers but have no funds since i'm retired. i do have 600 watts per chanell though.
How old are your speakers
i've heard the phrase 'bose, no highs, no lows' but i have 4 901's series 2 speakers which i bought back in i think 1972.
What does moving from a 150 watt amp to a 400 watt amp get you?
I've read the 'stereo review' magazine from 1970 to it's end. they say that to hear a difference in volume you have to triple the wattage to hear a 3 decibel increase. from 100 watts you need 300 watts. from 300 watts you need 900 watts. from 900 ...
