RIAA, Questions only please
with all the discussion on the RIAA curve, would suggest real vinyl philes consider the following; test your LP playback set up and see if the playback response is flat according to the RIAA spec. To do this test, you will need a NAB RIAA playback...
a dilemma for cartridge/phono stage combination
lewn did a nice job of outlining what you need to do.according to stereophile your amp was available with a MC or MM pcb plug in board. https://www.stereophile.com/content/creek-4240-special-edition-integrated-amplifier-specificationskey thing to ...
Shipping heavy speakers
don't crate them. Use plycon blanket wrap service. Have used them for large speakers and studio gear several times. works very well. https://www.plycongroup.com/freequote.php
Tube amplifier suggestion for 101 dB speakers
I would buy one of Dennis Had's single ended amp either new or used. Well under your price point and they do sound really good. Much better than any SS amp I have heard.
MC suggestions
yep or you can buy from ELCOPC. off the web.
Who Here Owns a Sansui 919? Please describe performance vs other tunersi
I have the Sansui 717, 719, 919, and 9900. From the Kenwood side, have the 8300 and KT917. From the Yamaha line, I have a hot rodded T-2 and the CT7000. The audio stage on the T-2 is completely redone with Vishay resistors....HUGE improvement in r...

fourwnds, that is a nice phono stage. but would suggest you change the load resistors from metal film to Vishay bulk Foil. no comparison. the noise floor will drop and micro detail will come through in spades without any sort of frequency balance ...

what are you using for a phono stage. May be better to spend some dollars on that first...the grado is a pretty nice cart.
Recommendation for input coupling caps
would add go with copper foil cap. either from audyn, Jupiter, Jensen or Dueland. The most organic sound I have heard from any cap are the copper foils. The Duelands are physically quite large, so may not fit in your application.
Gold Lion KT77 tubes for Primaluna Amp - a few questions
Sure, not a problem. Also have a PL prologue 4 I have gone through with copper caps. Am pretty sure I have before and after pics. Not too difficult of a job. If you lived nearby would say just bring yr amp over and can walk you through the steps.
Shipping speakers
Craters and freight forwarders could be rough on the speakers. for big heavy studio gear, have used Plycon with great success. ask them for a quote for their Blanket wrap. They will wrap the speakers in heavy pads, then get tied to the wall of one...
Tweeter Capacitor Upgrade (Coincident PREs)
another vote for Jupiter or Jensen copper foil caps. great caps in a reasonable price range. The Duelands are nice, but physically too large to fit in most apps, unless you build an outboard cross over box.
Life of KT150 tubes on ARC Amps
I would be surprised if the KT-150s are worn out after 2400 hours. 3000 to 4000 hours may be a better point to pull and test. If you are that concerned why not get them tested. I use KT-150s on a daily basis and have periodically tested them. Quit...
Looking for a new (used) phono preamp to replace EAR834
The EAR is a nice unit. have you thought about the Yoshino upgrades?if not, the Manley Chinook is a step up. and another unit to look at is the Tavish Design Phono stage. super well built and very good sounding.
Sorry redundant Best DAC under 600.
agree with 1mark2, go for the Ares DAC. it competes with DACs at the 1K level and above.
