Aqua xHD v Rockna WD SE Balanced
I'm actually considering these two dacs as well. Though my top two in consideration are the Totaldac D1 Dual and the Rockna Wavedream Balanced. For me, the Rockna is number one on my list, as it is a true balanced dac and my system is all balanced...
Roger Paul has passed away
I purchased my phono preamp from someone who was a friend of his. He said that his equipment was "revolutionarily transparent", and was in the process of moving towards all of his equipment in his system. I'm sad to hear that a creative individual...
Looking for more transparency.
Mapleshade interconnects were actually a little warm in my system. Or maybe not warm, but tone dense. The speaker cables didn't sound like anything. Which is what I liked. All systems and ears are different.
Looking for more transparency.
I should have been clearer. When I think solid core, I think if two stands of cable for a single ended connection, and three for a balanced cable. I'm a fan of simplicity in cables, and haven't heard a multi strand cable that I preferred over sing...
Looking for more transparency.
Mapleshade speaker cable has been the most transparent that I have tried outside of my current set-up, which is silver cable (the exact same that the speaker is internally wired with) going directly from the crossover, so no binding posts.
Looking for more transparency.
I would also look into solid core cables. I strive for as high a level of transparency as I can afford, and I think that solid core minimalist cables are the way to go. To me at least.
Looking for more transparency.
Try a passive preamp. I recommend one of the LDR variety. I'm not sure if gets any more transparent than that.
NOS DAC Journey - SW1X DAC III STd
I looked into this dac as I am a NOS fan. The only reason I am not purchasing it, is that it’s not a balanced dac and my system is fully balanced (no se inputs on my preamp). But by all accounts, this seems like a magical piece of music making equ...
Denafrips Artemis....
Thanks all.
New Zu Mission cable
I have used their Mission MK1 and Event MK1 power cables. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about either. Before switching to Cabledyne on my amps, I had the Event on everything in my system. I would recommend them to anyone.
MHDT or Border Patrol
@jeenam If you're not wanting "tube sound", I would recommend the Pagoda. Mine doesn't sound like a tube DAC at all. It is the most neutral and revealing is the MHDT DACs.I didn't and don't want a tube sounding DAC either. The Pagoda fits the bill...
MHDT or Border Patrol
I'm not using the USB input, but as I'm writing this, I'm listening to a solo cello recording from SoundCloud, through a Chromecast, into the optic input.I would contact MHDT Labs about their USB input to see if anything is needed.
Any modern SACD players with displays that show more than basic information?

@schubert Love it
MHDT or Border Patrol
The other MHDT Labs dacs are not as information rich as the Pagoda, and don't use chips that are held in as high estemm as the PCM1704, so I did not consider them. However, the other dacs are warmer, and that might be what you're looking for.
