I assume these picks are for vinyl. When I am buying classical on CD, I need to research the record label, SPARS code and most importantly, what is the origin of the performance. ie: is it a Decca recording and after many changes in distribution d...

Inexpensive Tube Pre?
I owned a Jolida Envoy Preamp and it has a sweet, lush tube sound. The linestage has 12ax7s and the phonostage uses 12at7s. I did not like the phono sound at all...grainy and not very dynamic. CDs thru the linestage had a very musical presentation...
The color of audio and ambassadorship
Bighead63, I can relate. I was ignored in those high-end stores until I went in with an audiophile friend who was a customer of theirs. I wouldn't try to convert anyone into the world of HIFI, but if they show some interest, I'm more than happy t...
The color of audio and ambassadorship

Need advise on Phono Input into KRELL KAV-400xi
You need to post what turntable you plan on using with your Krell and what cartridge...MC or MM, and your budget. Then you'll get some good advice from other members.
Need advise on Phono Input into KRELL KAV-400xi
You are going to need a phono preamp for the turntable. You can find a decent one for between $250 to $450. That's for a budget SS. Start researching the archives for "phono preamp" or "phono stage." good luck.
Cable to emphasize midrange in Totem
For those of us on a budget, Cardas Crosslink is very open with great imaging (if you're buying new). If buying used, I will second the choice of Cardas Neutral Reference. No need to biwire Rainmakers, just use good jumpers.
