Streamer/DAC combo or stand alone DAC with Node2?
Oldschool: good question.  I had a couple of reasons.  I wasn’t sure that the MDC was as supported and updatable for the OS as the Node 2 and the price was about the same.  Further, I had a different preamp and dac in there when I originally bough...
Need DAC/Streaming Advice
Like others, I had a great deal of difficulty with connectivity of a Bluesound Node 2.  I think (hope, pray) that I’ve permanently solved that by putting an access point (google Wifi mesh) and connecting the Node via Ethernet.  It’s been stable si...
Streamer/DAC combo or stand alone DAC with Node2?
I think my experience might be helpful to this discussion.  I have a Node 2 going into an NAD Masters M12 Pre/DAC - which is a pretty nice DAC.  I’ve had some issues with networking via Wifi w/ the Node 2 but that was solved (I hope permanently) b...
Aurelic G2 or Aurender N10
Nekoaudio: thanks for the recommendation.  I considered the Lumin U1 but it requires an Ethernet connection like the Aurender - something I was hoping to avoid if I could. If I were to run an ethernet cable under the floor (hard in this place) to ...
Aurelic G2 or Aurender N10
Uberwaltzthanks for the feedback.  This is helpful.  Interestingly, I’ve had two dealers of Aurelic try to steer me away.  I’m not sure either had actual experience with recent units, but I think the company didn’t treat the dealers well and that ...
Aurelic G2 or Aurender N10
Can we add the Simaudio Mind 2 to the discussion? Anybody with any experience with that unit? Reliability, stability and sound? Thanks, mgrif
Aurelic G2 or Aurender N10
I forgot to mention that one of the significant downsides to the Aurender as a solution is the limitation of their app running on an iPad only (no phone versions).  When our adult children visit the place, they would like to be able to run the app...
USB to SPIDIF converter for MAC
Schiit Audio Eitr.   Great product and value - It’s what I use for the same purpose in one system.  Please note it only goes up to 24/192.  see: http://www.schiit.com/products/eitr
PC+Dac or Streamer
Mahler123 - thanks for the suggestions.  As it turns out, running Ethernet to this particular location is problematic so I have been forced to use the WiFi function of the Bluesound.  However, I may try to run Ethernet through the floor to the loc...
PC+Dac or Streamer
I’m going to answer this a bit differently than others.  With respect to SQ, my experience has been that a streamer is a vastly better solution than even a tricked out PC.  In reality, a streamer is a computer dedicated to that particular function...
PS Audio Stellar Gain DAC/Pre-amp as first foray into separate pre-amp?
I happen to own the stellar stack in one of my systems and have to say I’m pretty impressed with its sound quality overall, and very much so on a value basis.  It’s quite smooth and very easy to listen to, but not soft or lacking detail.  I have a...
Add streamer with quality sound to system for Tidal and portable drive
I think the general answer to your question is yes, adding a streamer for Tidal will likely be a satisfying upgrade over your current setup.  It was for me.  I was using an iMac, and then an optimized Mac mini as my digital front end in a couple o...
SF Serafino vs SF Elipsa SE
Interesting - I’ll have to look into that as I hadn’t heard that SF was doing poorly.  I’m in the Midwest with no dealers for >100+ miles.  But, the dealers in Milwaukee and Chicago seem to be doing ok.  A dealer in AZ has so much volume, it’s ...
KEF blades 2 or Dynaudio C4?
Hardly drinking any cool aid.   Just appreciating reasonable discussion which I find he offers - even when I disagree.  The hostility some show on these forums is just silly and unwarranted.I regularly read how  our hobby is slowly dying as audiop...
SF Serafino vs SF Elipsa SE
It’s a good question.  I, too, am looking at the Serafina’s, but vs. the Olympica IIIs and not against the Elipsa - which unfortunately, I can’t fit into my very large room for a variety of reasons.  I think the Elipsa’s are voiced more in the lon...
