EL34 in a 6550 amp?
The amp would need a little modding to do so.

Krell FPB 600 or 400cx?
Two 450mcx's may be better than the 700cx, I haven't compared them. But I had a 600c and sold it to get the 350mc's and sent them back to get another 600c because I liked it better. The 600 was just smoother and more powerful in my system.
Why are my B&W 803D speaks feel bright
Almost any speaker can be made to sound good or bad depending on set up.
Why are my B&W 803D speaks feel bright
Rotel and B&W used to be imported by the same distributor so they were almost always sold at the same stores. Therefore they usually ended up together. But if you want to tone them down, without spending any money, toe them in to where the twe...

Because they are. Try toeing them in a lot.

Sue Kraft gave the 16 a good review in the April/May 2006 issue of Absolute Sound. It will probably need some updating.

Krell FPB 600 or 400cx?
I've sent my amp to Krell twice using Southern Freight once for an upgrade to 700cx and another for a checkup a year ago. The shipping was about 125.00 from GA. If there was a design flaw in the 600 I never experienced it but maybe the upgrade fix...
Krell FPB 600 or 400cx?
That's about the silliest thing I've heard Sound. I bought the big Krell when I was a speaker designer and it drove everything I threw at it. And it sounded great doing it and still does.
Krell FPB 600 or 400cx?
The 600c is better. As a matter of fact the 600 beat my 350c monos and I got rid of the monos and purchased a 600. I now have a 700cx.
Spectral preamps
It is odd to me Ack to have an amplifier so dependent on another company's cables.
Spectral preamps
I once had a DMC-10, one of the earlier Spectral preamps and I used it with a Krell KSA-250. It always performed well and had no hi frequency side effects. I also had a Counterpoint SA-3 at the time and compared them to each other a few times and ...
No sound for DVD, Blu-Ray, or Cox via digital.
It's not the Sony. Coax and Toslink just don't have enough bandwidth for hi rez audio. HDMI will pass the signal of both SACD and DTS HD etc digitally. And the processor must be able to decode the signal.
No sound for DVD, Blu-Ray, or Cox via digital.
Since you are apparently only using a stereo signal Elizabeth is correct. If your going to use the coaxial or Toslink inputs on the Lex, you need to set the Bluray player to mix down the hi res signal to PCM stereo. You will probably get better so...
