ARC Ref 5se inferior to LS28?
It seems to me if ARCs engineers are so good they would have built the newest model first. But I suppose their marketing dept. is even better.

Obscure bands
RPWL is a new find for me although they've been around ten years or more. They started out as a Pink Floyd tribute band doing some of the more obscure stuff and also performed their own material. Now they do mostly their own songs but the singer s...
ARC Ref 5se inferior to LS28?
I don't understand how ARC keeps improving their models so often. You would think a model from a few years ago would sound like crap comparatively. But the old models all were the best at one time according to the reviewers. Sounds like a lot of B...

It's hard to tell Dan. All of the ones I replaced either were broken or checked under a microscope.

sbank, having owned everything from the KMA 100s all the way up to the FPB 700C, I believe you will be happy. I still have a KSA 250S which is a 250 upgraded to Sustained Plateau Biasing. It still sounds great.

The awful truth about CDs, do they have the same shelve life as LP's ?
There is such a thing as CD rot but it's not a widespread problem. A friend bought a bunch of CDs from the Koch label(I believe) that went bad. The company ended up replacing his for free as well as thousands of others. DVDs are actually worse bec...

My personal experience with Direct Drive versus Belt Drive
I own quite a few turntables and although I prefer Direct Drive, they can all sound great if set up correctly. It is much easier to build a belt drive table and that’s one reason there’s so many around. A direct drive table is much rarer and harde...
What ever happened to Krell ?
Being friends with some of the guys at Krell, I was told there wasn't much choice but to get rid of Dan. When the financial crises hit it hurt Krell badly and Dan had sold his controlling interest in the company. Dan spent lots of money and was so...
