high frequency intermittent noise
I found this: http://blog.rfvenue.com/2015/05/06/how-to-prevent-cell-phones-from-interfering-with-audio-equipmentIt talks about cell phone noise in a pro audio setting, and mostly with phones as the source of the noise, not a cell tower. But they ...
Tekton Double Impacts
Ozzy, get some friends to help you move the speakers.. no?
high frequency intermittent noise
No idea. Doesn't it say on the tester? Correct sounds to me like the polarity is correct (live wire to the narrow slot, neutral to the wide). Didn't that thing come with instructions? 😜

Room acoustics
What I find particularly interesting are all the frequencies below 20 Hz.. I start my sweep at 20, so where is everything what coming from?
Room acoustics
All right y'all, I've posted some interesting waterfall plots on my systems page.  Check them out.  There are three measurements:: The first is my room without any extra bass treatment, other than the bass panels behind my speakers and the acousti...

It definitely sounds like cell phone interference to me as well. How it's getting into your system, though.. ?
New and searching
wow.  looks like we're all into room acoustics all of a sudden!  i was going to suggest the same, but randy pretty much covered what i was going to say about that.one thing not mentioned: component vibration mitigation.  there are many different m...
For tube sound, which is more important: preamp or power amp?
Unless, of course, you need the power and control a high power SS amp can provide. Then a tube pre is the best bet. High power tube amps tend to be big, heavy, expensive and hot, not to mention they go through tubes much faster than a tube pre..I'...
Opening a can of worms
I’d say my bodymind is well past optimal burn in. I think I need to upgrade something.. probably my operating system.
Room acoustics
I’ve yet to build one, but for bass absorption, the limp membrane trap seems ideal. A member on here also recommended it to me, without me having mentioned that's what I was considering.https://www.gearslutz.com/board/bass-traps-acoustic-panels-fo...
Audiophiles should learn from people who created audio
Agreed. I find waterfall graphs incredibly useful for dealing with my room acoustics. As I’ve taken more and more measurements, it had surprised me how variable they are. There are obviously way more similarities between each measurement than diff...
For tube sound, which is more important: preamp or power amp?
Indeed! I'm a proponent of a tube pre/class D amp setup, but that's because of the power needs of my speakers. There's no reason the inverse couldn't sound beautiful.Willem - I'm not sure a plug-in could recreate a tube component with anything oth...
Room acoustics
I agree it regards to treating the room, not the signal. But I'd imagine both are valid solutions with their own particular compromises. The waterfall graph is exactly what I've been looking at.. a very useful data visualization. What is considere...

Hey, I free climb and hear differences in cables. I even feel differences in climbing shoes. Especially when listen to music on different cables. I'm an expectation-bias-loving fool.
