HEGEL - Is it really made in Norway ?
After skimming the past 5 pages it is still factually unclear where Hegel is manufactured.I have absolutely nothing against gear being built in China or wherever else, but I also believe a manufacturer should be honest and upfront on where product...
Hegel H160 Integrated
One suggestion is the Dali Fazon F5...they take up somewhat less floor space then the Harbeth SHL 5, can work reasonably well close to the rear walls, might be more appealing to your wife and best of all work well with both the Hegel H80 and Hegel...
Totem vs Audio Physic / Schweikert
Well said Milpai. Totems do indeed come alive with real power.
Hegel H200
I was going to purchase an H200 unfortunately I didn’t have a nearby dealer and the distributor would not allow the dealer I wanted to buy from to sell to me so I bought something else instead. Aside from the distributor I was very impressed with ...
Best integrated amp ? Great match for AZ Adagio?
I agree with Bizango that hybrid integrateds work very well with the Adagio. My personal recommendation is the Pathos TT – it is a hybrid integrated with a patented Class A amp. section that is truly a magical combination with the Adagio’s. I high...
Turntable under $1500 ..... Rega, clearaudio, or ?
If used I am with Slovell in getting the best used VPI you can afford. If new, for $ 1500 you cannot beat the Marantz TT-15 for value. The included Clearaudio cart. alone is worth almost $ 1000.
Mcintosh MA6600 vs Luxman 507u
I recently just went through this exact same exercise between these same two integrated’s and in my case I went with the McIntosh. Anyone who suggests that one “smokes” the other really has not properly auditioned both of these fine components. Th...
Mark Levinson No. 334 vs 23.5
The only reason why I still own Levinson is because I put soooo much money into the amp repair I feel I am now committed to the amplifier for life (or until it dies again). I do love the sound; however I would I have to warn people that buy Levins...
Weaknesses of the Adcom GFA-5802 ?
I quite enjoyed my 5802 when I had it. Good punch and a capable driver. I didn’t find it bright or grainy but it was certainly a few notches above being neutral. Probably my biggest dislike was the noise floor. If you have ever heard something like...
Best value in 5 chan. power amp under $3,000
Find a used Proceed AMP 5. Unbeatable value.
which budget integrated amp Rotel, NAD or other
You didn’t mention a budget but given that you are looking for a “temporary” integrated with a decent phono section I submit there is no finer choice than a vintage Sansui AU series integrated. The depreciation is already absorbed and you would be...
Best Used under $300 2 Channel Amp
Adcom would be my first choice. But NAD, B&K, and even Rotel can be worht a look as well. Older Carver's often's have issues and I would avoid them. Good luck.
Acoustat model 22/2200
Acoustat’s are easily the best panels I have ever owned. My only regret was not keeping them. If you can find a well preserved pair, buy them. Great speakers.
Made in Canada conundrum
I have sent literally ton’s of audio gear across the border and have never encountered any problem at all whatsoever. Generally speaking border issues most often arise only if the proper paperwork has not been prepared and presented.I go agree tha...
Adcom 555 Mk 2 Questions
Sounds like your bias might need some adjustment and your amp could benefit from a good servicing. The upside is that they are fairly simple amps to have serviced and once running in top shape will have great sound for the $ 150 that you paid.
